76082, Ignition problems? Please help! Posted by 97eclipseRS_T, Jun-14-04 04:20 AM
Ok i'll try to describe this to the fullest extent so that someone may be able to tell me what is going on with my car. Earlier i was having problems with exaust gases leaking and the turbo not spooling up, but that was a simple fix, just had to replace the fire ring gasket between exaust manifold and the deltagate. Unfortunately i had to drive with no gasket for probably a good hour total, and im not sure what happened in that time but now im having problems with starting the car. Could i have melted a wire or the starter? My car still starts but it takes quite a couple key turns sometimes, and sometimes it takes one. After it gets going it runs fine, but after driving for 20 minutes the battery light will come on, and this is consistant. ALways after 20 minutes it will come on. Any ideas as to what might be going on and/or what i will have to replace? I'm guessing the starter but i really have no idea...

Ok i just went out to start the car again, tried once, made a nasty noise, and didn't start. Tried again, didn't start, and the 'Door Ajar' light went out and the car now has no power. Can't turn lights on, cant lock doors... Could my problem be the battery? Would the battery be causing all of these problems including starting the car? Its an Optima battery and i was under the impression that those just dont go bad in a year or two.

make sure your terminals are connected well and they arent in contact with other metal like the hood, etc. If you can borrow a friends battery, that would help eliminate a few possibilities. Goodluck.

Finally, one last thing ill add to this post, the car had no power, no windows, locks, headlights woudlnt turn on. I left it a while came back out n opened the door and the door ajar light came back on, so i got in, turned the interior lights on, worked ok, then turned the headlights on, power killed. Battery?

Yes bro it's the battery. You may want to check the alternator too because it may not be charging the batt anymore. Autozone will test the whole thing for you at no cost...

Just thought i'd post that my friend and I fixed the problem, had oil in the cam angle sensor and a little bit of blowoff in the turbo. Cleaned em both out and ordered the new cam angle sensor.
