i only looked at howell's site at the AFX, which goes for $140 W/ the belts. how much is the unorthodox and where can i get it?

has anyone had experience with both of them that can tell me which one is better. ive heard good things about both, and the AFX is easier to install because its only 1 piece....

anyone have any input on this?

i haven't had both so i can't compare... but just so you know the UR is basically one piece too. If you want u just have the option of taking off ALL the belts very easily.

I have an AFX and I like it alot. From what I hear the unorthadox is less of an underdrive which means less HP gain. Also I'm pretty sure the AFX is only like 120 now. Either one will be just as much of a bitch to install as the other because the hardest part is taking the stock pulley off.

this topic has been beat to death over and over and over again... i may be nice about it but others may not. PLEASE USE THE SEARCH!!!!! each has it's pro's and con's... one is more underdrive one weights less no one that i know of has dyno'ed the difference sooo blah who cares it's like maybe 1/4 of a horsepower difference if any. Just go with what you get a good deal on, i got my UR for $100 so that is what i got!

the price is a little higher than afx, but there is no pressing or pulling involved at all. The pulley slips on, and secures to the crank sprocket with 3 bolts. With this pulley, you will never need a pulley puller ever again. Colors are red, blue, and clear anodized.

i have heard complaints about tore up belts with the afx ... ive had the unorthadox for give or take 2 yrs ... belts are fine engine and crank are fine its a good buy imo

There is no power "gain" from UDPs bro. They free up power to the wheels and allow the engine to rev quicker. :thumbsup

i know they free up power, thats what i meant. im just trying to figure out what gains are from the freed hp.

ok so when a thread comes up "VT 2.2 vs the howell 2.2" and VT comes in and is like OURS IS BETTER...no one can say shit.

If you want a pulley and that is all, buy the AFX. If you want a pulley that is capable of changing, then buy unorthodox. I had an AFX for years and didn't have any problems with it. I now have an unorthodox due to needing the Tec 3 ignition crank trigger wheel mounting capability. Unorthodox also has a race setup that allows you to remove the pulley and slap on an alternator only pulley as well. Probably take 20-30 minutes to swap.

the thing i like better about the unorthodux is that you don't have to use a puller to remove it when it comes down to timing belt changing, it has 3 bolts that you just remove and the outside portion just slides right off. it's also not a risk of bending it when using a puller. i can't compare to the AFX's 'cause i heavn't tried it, but it's good enough for me. i noticed a difference.
