My question is I've been contimplating on getting CAMS for a while now, should I?
I can get a set of Cran #16 Cams...Are these gonna do me anygood? Are they worth my time and effort to go this route?

This is a new side for me, please help me as much as you can...

cams are GREAT.
I would stay away from the drag cams unless thats all you plan on doin, cams that large are hard to get them to idle properly.

The #16 cams do not require any increased compression, but I like them with a slight increase in compression. I'm putting a car together for SEMA now and we are putting in 16's with 10.5 pistons. If I was staying with stock compression, then I would look at the #14's.

Also I would put on a 55mm TB for the car to run better. I like the velocity, and they tend to work better on 2.0 litre engines. Refer to this chart for TB sixing information. http://www.howellautomotive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=222

The car is pulling on top, but it is pulling the same as it would with a 55mm. BUt with the 60mm your killing your velocity in the lower RPM's. It will give you better midrange throttle response with the 55mm vs the 60mm and WOT high RPM peformance will be nearly identical giving the car overall better performance and not just top end performance.

It is a common mistake to put too big of an item on a car. We all do it starting out. Most of us learn over time that the parts on a car work as a system and you try to keep the components matched. Once you learn that it makes building a better combination much easier.

You don't really have enough mods to warrant or take full advantage of a 60mm throttle body. As it stands right now, you'd probably notice a difference on the butt dyno if you tried out a 55mm throttle body, especially in the low to midrange area.

The #14's are kinda shitty due to the smaller exhaust cam. Go with 12's or 16's. The intake cams are roughly the same on the 12's/14's, but the 14 exhuast cam is smaller. 16's will be good with your flow IMO, but yeah, compression helps...

Don't over look the advantages of a smaller exhaust cam, it "can" be good for exhaust gas velocity which is key to making power. It all depends on the grind combo.

You need some good engine mods before you need something bigger than the 55mm.

well you do have full exhaust and exhaust manifold, correct? Otherwise those will be HUGE restrictions with cams. I've heard alot of good coming from the 12's and 16's.. also think down the line. Do you see boost in your future or will you ALWAYS stay N/A? If you see turbo sometime then you can always get 14's (turbo grind) and just dial out some of the overlap with your adj. cam gears. If you are looking for all out perfomance and are willing to sacrifice some* daily drivability then i would go for the 16's. BTW don't just be set on Crane, they are good cams don't get me wrong but Crower make a nice set of sticks as well. If you do decide on a wilder grind then look into a set of the Ti valve springs to hold the increased pressures on them. If i was you i would read the pages in Advance tuning thoroughly, very very useful information.

Get the 14's, they are also a good NA cam. People call them turbo cams, but that is just because they work good with a turbo. I run 16's on a turbo.

I ran the 14's, but longed for the 12's or 16's...Crane 12's or Crower 2's will do you just fine, they're pretty close to one another, look at the sticky post about cam comparison, we compared the two.
