75044, Intake mani/TB removal and install Qs. Posted by jdpilot, May-24-04 03:19 PM
First, greetings to all, I have been laying low for quite some time and haven't posted. Lurking you know, lol. Well, I finally received my mani and TB from ARD. I sent it out at the end of February, ugh! So, I will be installing it this weekend along with all the other parts I have been sitting on (motor mounts, underdrive, neuspeed bar) waiting for this piece. So my question is regarding the mani and TB removal/install. I am going to soak the bolts a day in advance of the removal. What will I need for additional parts to complete the install? I have heard the torque screws on the TB will break as they are lock-tited in? What size did you folks replace them with so I have some on hand in case? Other than gasket paper for the TB, is there anything else I should have on hand so I can avoid an emergency weekend dash to the parts store? Thanks. Oh, and I will have a stock mani and TB for sale for your porting/polishing pleasure in the sale section. Thanks.

Don't bother soaking the bolts, won't help or hurt anything.
Aditional parts, nothing other than new gaskets. Your TB gaskit will shatter, be prepared.
The torque head bolts will not break, I've never heard of that. Just be careful.
And, uh, where the fuck ya been dude? Can't call a mother fucker back huh? LOL I'm just givin ya shit, but it does suck to have a 2gnt'r in your home town that won't follow through with shit :thumbsup LOL...j/p dude.

The bolts that hold the butterfly plate to the throttle shaft - those bitches are locked in and will shear on you. The bolts that hold the IAC housing and TPS sensor are loc-tited in as well....but the bolts that hold the TB to the intake manifold should come right out.
