Hey I have a 95 rs and everytime I get on the gas in lower rpm's(2-about 3500) it makes this gurggling sound like therre is sumthign in the exhaust almost like it is bubbling...All I have on the exhaust is a muffler for now.....what could be my probleM?

kinda hard to diagnose this problem with the given information. any other symptoms?

its hard sound to describe almost like a puttering sound....just sounds horrible also my car doesn't act as responding as it should be...kinda takes it awhile to respond to the gas...

sounds like its time for a tune up...new plugs, wires, air filter, pcv valve, maybe a fuel filter and o2 sensor if your up to it. I would run some injector cleaner too.

under the hood I just have a short ram intake....how much would all that tune up be..the fuel filter was just replaced maybe 2 months ago

plugs- five bucks plug wires- 30-50 depending on brand pcv valve- 2.99 filter for short ram- 15-20 o2- 80-130ish depending on brand/where you buy

werd...tune up and you should be good to go...specifically sounds like plugs to me...but its a safe bet to give it a full tune up.

I could just be the normal resonance created by the exhaust, but if you haven't done a tune up, do one. It's always a good idea to keeps things running good.
Did the sound start when the exhaust was installed?

It just recently started maybe a week ago....I don't think it would be anything the exhaust would make..its a nasty sound that makes the car sound horrible

"my car doesn't act as responding as it should be...kinda takes it awhile to respond to the gas..."
does it hesitate a bit, kinda like it leaps and jumps instead of smoothly accelerating? also...does it get worse/better sometimes?
sounds like plug wires to me. i would try plugs first (becuase they are cheap, lol), next try wires. im about 90% sure that one of those two is your problem.

its just when I get on the gas..I'll push it in and it will take it maybe a second or 2 to actually start accelerating....to me doesn't seem as quick as it should be...I rode in my friends rs and his just seems more responsive .....

so the problem is only at WOT (full throttle)? normally ignition problems occur at a lower RPM, but not always. is it just "slower", or is there a noticable difference in the "smoothness" of the accelertation, almost like its lagging and then just "bumps" into accelleration?

75062, RE: Bubbling sound ?? Posted by TrIcKeDwHiTe95rs, May-24-04 06:59 PM
yeah once it hits about 3 to 4000 rpms it starts accelerating good

I did have my fuel filter changed not too long ago b/c when I hit an upward slant I would lose rpm's and have to down shift

I have had something simular, I dont think it comes from the exhaust though, its almost as if I can hear water guggeling through the car, I almost think its coolent, but what would cause this?

thats almost exactly what I'm talkin about bout along with that water suond it comes out the exhaust like a puttering sound....I'll try the tune up and see if it takes care of it...anyone else have this problem ?..

also Ive noticed when I turn my car on sumtimes and keep it idleing it tends to drop down to about 300 rpms and act like its ddying and then kick back up and rev up to about 2000 rpms.....

"I have had something simular, I dont think it comes from the exhaust though, its almost as if I can hear water guggeling through the car, I almost think its coolent, but what would cause this?"
thats from coolant flowing through your heater core located under the glovebox in the cabin. its not anything to worry about, but you should check your coolant level to make sure its not low. i get it all the time. ;)
to the original poster:
it sounds like you have 2 unrelated problems. if you hear a gurgling sound like described above, then its just your heater core. im now 99% sure its either your plugs or plug wires that is causing your hesitation problems. you might also want to clean your idle air controler (IAC) to aleviate the low RPM at idle. search for "cleaning IAC" or similar to find out how, theres a lot of posts on it. you only need to buy a new throttle body gasket, otherwise its free...and its easy to do.
