if its just your tensioner pulley that is bent, try finding a used one in the buy/sell forum. its really easy to replace. an underdrive pulley is just a smaller crank pulley.

Just wondering....Could I just buy an UDP Kit to fix the problem? Or I saw something were umm you could just buy one of the pullies and it was like $160 or so. I dunno its just I cant peel out at all cause the stupid freakin bealt flyes off each time. Any suggestions on what to get or do would be very very helpful

The UDP does not change anything but the crank pulley. If the pulley's bent, the only thing you can do is replace it. Replace the whole bracket with pulley. It's not that hard.

1)browse the sale/wanted forum;
2)Go to a junk yard, take one off another car there; or
3)Leave the belt off and roast the tires :thumbsup

Have you try to use an impact gun to tight the crankshaft bolt? I had the same problem and though the bearing on the tensioner pulley was bad because it had a little play. I used an impact gun on the pulley bolt and the belt had never come off since then. If I'm correct it will spit the belt at high rpm, 5000 to 6500 rpm, Right!

You don't need the power steering ajustment pully to run the power stearing belt.
Loot at the power stearing pump it has an ajustment slot on it.
Take the old powersteering tentioner bracket off. Lossen the mounting
bolts and the ajustment bolt on the pump. Move it to the smallest ajustment (push the pump toward the back off the car) then move it a little bit toward the front of the car(to allow some slack to get the belt on it). take a string/wire wrap it around the crank, ac, and power stearing pump. Mark the string and take it into your local parts store and get the closest size to the length of the string ( a little
longer if need be but not shorter) Then just instal around the crank,ac, and power stearing pump. Then to tighten it just pull the pump towards the front of the car and tighten it. I had the same problum and I did away with the tentioner. I have been like that for 3 years now with no problums. :thumbsup ohh yea make sure you get the right amount of ribs on the new belt.

^^^THANKS, i was about to write the same thing. the problem here has nothing to do w/ his crankshaft, hes throwing p/s belts. hes (i think) refering to the tensioner that keeps the accesories belt on.

also, do an advanced search on this subject. theres a plethora of info on this including troubleshooting, belt lengths, tensioner bearing replacement, etc.

If its the tensioner pulley thats "bent" then you'll probably just need to replace the bearing. Take the pulley off and inspect the bearing. Is the inner race all whacky? I got a replacement bearing from McMaster Carr for like $5 or something.

I'm talking by my experince with the car. I had the same problem, the belt will come off at high rpm. I though it was the tensioner bearing because it had a little play, but using a impact gun to drive the balancer all the way in resolve the problem. I didn't had to buy anything, no expenses. It is an option that he can take.

^^^very good point. in fact, i had the exact same problem, and until now i thought i was the only one!!!

sidebar: actually, my problem was that at some point in the cars history a shop had (i assume) lost the damper pull bolt, so they just replaced it w/ a similar one that was too small. it eventually worked its way out and caused the crank pully to wobble. after a month of testing, replacing, and fiddling, i gave up and took it to satan. i have NO idea how they figured out what it was, but it took them 20 minutes to put a new bolt in there.

You guys are kinda right, which is why i am still lost. When i took it into the shop they said that the "tension pully" was bent so whenever i reved up and released the belt would just fly off. They said i needed to replace the pully and thats what was going to cost so much. I guess from reading the above responces an UDP kit wouldn't fix the problem at all. I was trying to mess around near the bent pully and its too tight to do any kind of work myself. What should I do? I dont want to drop a fork load of cash over to get the freakin thing fixed. Thanks again for all of the help :)

read my post on how to narrow down your problems. thrown accesory belts usually occur for two reasons: (1) loose/chipped crankshaft pully, or (2) loose, worn tensioner assembly. by isolating the crank to the p/s, you can figure out which one it is. if the belt stays put with only the p/s connected, you know for SURE that the tensioner is bad. the part is about 125 bucks and you can put it on in about 30 minutes in your driveway.

BTW: the 40" IS the correct size to wrap around just the p/s pump and the crank.
