Apexi N1's are listed for a GST, GS, as well as a GSX. Now I know that the AWD cat-back is different in that it runs under the axle where FWD have the tubing going over the cross member.

Question for those that know: what is the difference between 162-KM01 (GS model) and 161-KM02 (GST model)? The OEM section from the Catalytic Converter back is identical for non-turbo and GST, save that the GST muffler is higher flowing. OEM Flanges and exhaust hangers are the same. Is the GST model made by Apexi a larger diameter pipe than the one listed for non-turbos?

I have emailed distributors regarding this but have not received any responses.

Any insight into this is greatly appreciated.

not sure on the differences but i know that an exhaust from a gst WILL fit a gs.

gst is a turbo cat back with 3 inch piping and a bigger muffler the gs is 2.5 i believe and a smaller muffler get the gst one it will fit and looks a lot better..

3" is way tooo big if you plan on staying NA. Unless you have some major power adders (turbo, huge cams, increased compression, etc) you will actually feel a noticeable loss in power and your car will feel like a turd in the lower rpms.

I am bringing this thread back from the dead because I was told by a "VERY" reliable source of this site that the GST will bolt right up to the GS.

That is wrong and anyone that tells you this is a liar. I have gone through utter hell to get this to bolt up. First off those who have installed their own Apex'i N1 GST catback on their GS will know this as well that the cat on the GST must/has to be at least 2" longer then the GS cat. I went to install my N1 this weekend only to find out first of that the flanges are too big on the GST cb and will not bolt up to the stock cat for one...ok ok minor setback right?

Wrong...once I search the whole city of VA Beach for someone that actually caries a flange for 3" I custom cut it and weld it on my stock cat. Now I am bolting up my cat and bolt up the first section of piping to find out its 2" too short for some reason. Hmmmm

So now I am ordering flanges now to make a custom test pipe so my exhaust will fit.

So NO!!!! the GST will not bolt up to a GS/RS without modification and fabrication.

The source that told me it will bolt right up knows who they are and its really fucked up to give someone information on something when you never obviously installed one first hand yourself!

Just a word of advice...get a second opinion before spending hard earned money on something.

I will post up pics tomorrow of the stock exhaust to the Apexi N1 for the GST and show you that it is infact about 2" shorter then the stock exhaust.

whoa whoa calm down dude. i have one. it bolted right up. i know what your problem is. 2" short you say? that's the 2.5"-3" flange that SHOULD have been included. if it's not go yell at your vendor. you use that flange until you upgrade the rest of your piping to 3".

so yes the GST apexi n1 bolts up to a RS/GS. YOU NEED THE ADAPTER FLANGE. it will not bolt up to the GST either without that flange. i'll try an find some pics of the thing you're missing. did you buy this second hand? honestly dude, when i had a shop put in the catback he was really impressed and told me that's one've the smoothest installs he's had in awhile. the hardest part was getting off my POS rusted-to-shit stock piping. after that it was smooth sailing. don't let this mishap get you down, once you get the N1 on you'll love it. it's an awesome catback with great tone. i can't wait to make some better us of the 3" piping (i'm NA for now...)

what does the adaptor plate look like? You don't even want to know what I had to do to be able to drive my car today. I will take some pics when I get the flanges I need to install my exhaust. I already welded a 3" flange on the end of my car to bolt the exhaust up. so when it didn't fit, I screwed my old silencer to my cat. Its so ghetto its not even funny!

It did reduce the tone, but still loud as hell...just can't afford an exhuast ticket since this is my daily driver.

Sorry if I came off wrong, but I was really pissed off and still kinda am about this whole thing...I really wish you could of seen and been there for the whole process of my trying to get this to work out.

Where can I get 3" and 2.5" flanges overnighted to me so I can make myself a 3" test pipe? RRE will not, already looked into them....anyone?

Oh yeah, I have already tried all the perforamce/muffler shops and no one carries a 3" flange. I found the last one NAPA had on Sunday and I still had to modify it to make it work ok.

Help me find a flange I can get overnighted.

As much as I don't want to, Im going to have to agree with mcubed up there. it bolts right up no problems at all. We installed one on my friends car about 2 months ago and it went on smooth as butter. Its not the car, or the pipings fault that you are missing a piece.

I have one i will sell for 45.00 shipped since i have a full 3" exhaust. mine fit as it was supposed to.

The adapter is a 2" section with a 3" flange on one side and a mating flange to your cat. I assume this was done by apexi to save on production costs for differnt models.

nope the sole intent is to allow you to upgrade to full 3" piping later on. the RS/GS/GST all have the same outlet from the cat. this is why you can take stock cat-back piping off a GST and slap it on your RS/GS for a slight gain (bigger piping). the GSX AWD piping is completely different.

that's very surprising that some people had to buy it separately (unless their vendors were tryna make a couple extra bucks). the adapter is part of the catback system. it doesn't work without it so i'm not sure why anyone would sell it as such. i bought mine from RRE. idk where other people bought that have had problems with missing the adapter...

^ agreed. I also bolted up my 3" GS-T apexi N1 without a problem. Mine also came with the adaptor.

Well no worries, becuase it just forced me to make myself a test pipe. I got my 2.5" and 3" flanges...do you think I will need a reducer?
