Ok i've done some searchin on here and have seen plenty talk about the crank pulley alone being put on peoples cars, im interested in getting an entire set. I've seen the set for the Turbo eclipses from Unorthodox Racing and was curious if the PS,Alt,and Water Pump pulleys are the same in the N/A Eclipse as in the Turbo's......

Then I would be able to purchase the pulleys individually eveything would work well. If they are not compatible, anybody who has information about UDP sets would be greatly appreciated if they post it.

96 Eclipse RS

At the moment, only the crank pulley is made for the 420A and I'm not sure if anyone has tried doing the PS and A/C pulleys with any success. You might as well forget about the water pump though, since that's driven from the timing belt.

I put one on my car, but left off the accessory belt, only ran the alt, and there's a huge difference. Who needs P/S anyway? I know you can't complain about the heat, I live in Houston and handled it. It was nice to have P/S when I hooked it back up, but there was an extremely noticeable power loss above 4k. If you change the other pulleys, you may actually begin to discharger your battery bellow a certain RPM. I think the alt's are the same, but don't quote me, I just glanced at one a while back.

:P I can't wait until August when it cool back down to like low 90s at night here in Phoenix. Even though I never use the AC, I still like to know it's there. Is it worth the extra 1/10 sec in the 1/4? I doubt it. LOL

ac/ps pullies would be pointless, i dont even have that belt on and the gain was more or less nonexistant

word especially turbo, just turn the boost up 1 psi and it makes up for all of that shit

I drove all through High School and part of college without a/c or p/s. Nice to have, but not needed. I didn't notice much of a gain in the 1/4 on my car, but 1/10th is the difference between a win or a loss, especially on the street up against a honduh, I want that extra 1/10th. However, it pulled harder at 80+ mph with the accessories off, and I was able to gain an extra 5 or 7 mph top speed.

July/August is pretty much the hottest around here, stays in the upper 90's, low 100's, until late august/september, but the humidity is like 88%.

You don't need more than one on a 420A. On the V-8, they usually come in sets because the water pump is driven buy the same belt. You can't run the water pump much slower on a street car without over heating problems, so they supply a pulley for it to limit the reduction on the water pump.

On the 420A the water pump is driven off the timing belt, and it is not effected by the UDP. This means you only need one pulley to do it effectively.

The AFX pulley has a stainless steel insert to prevent crankshaft galling to insure long life of the product.

the neon guys have a alternator OVERDRIVE pulley to be used in conjunction with the UDP's. it fits our alternator too.

The 95-99 Neons use a V-belt your 420A uses a 4 groove serpintine. Also an overdrive pulley on a alternator would be smaller not larger and the one they sell is larger in diameter, thus it is an underdrive pulley.

Underdrive = smaller on drive pullies, and larger on driven pullies.

Actually Gary the one I got was a smaller pulley to overdrive the alternator.

Don't use it. It is negating some of the effect of the UDP. The alternators are overkill anyway. We tested the AFX with up to a 1200 watt system.

On Mustangs they change 3, crank pulley, alt, and w/p. The alt and w/p are actually bigger, which reduces the w/p even more, not to compensate for the slower crank pulley. On the old 5.0's it did cause cooling problems, but I haven't noticed it at all in my 4.6, I'm guessing because of the electric fan.

Put on our engines, it is all complished with the crank pulley. Keep in mind that bigger accessory pullies add rotating mass which reduce performance.

Well, I gut a u-dox udp and I love it. It it 2 pieces: the center where it bolts is steel (to help if you nee to take it off since pulling aluminum won't work too well) ant the aluminum part bolts on with 3 hex bolts. As for a kit... When I called to order it they asked if i wanted the kit which i think had 4 pulleys and was like $400. He assured me it was for NT. I also know AEM makes a overdrive pulley for our car (dont need one from a neon).

The AFX is one peice, so you don't have to worry about it coming appart.
