73570, Need help please.

Since I got my new motor in, I have a check engine light for "no cam signal at PCM".

Is there suposed to be a magnet that is on the end of the exhaust cam that the sensor reads?

I cannot seem to figure out WHY I am getting that trouble code. I replaced the sensor for the upgraded 97+ type according to the dealer. I believe that it has occurred ever since I got the new motor setup put in the car.

I am thinking that this may be THE cause or one of the causes for the multiple cylinder misfire code that I am also getting.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Jonathan

yes, it gives the signal to the cam angle sensor

Thanks, I thought there might be one there. I will crack that sensor off tomorrow and see if I in fact have one or not. Hopefully not and it will be a quick fix.

Thanks

It would not start without a cam reference. I don't know how it can pop this code and still be running. Probably because it has the freak-of-nature '95 PCM. :P

Yeah well I cracked the sensor off, and there is NO magnet there.

All I see is the center bore where they prolly hooked up the cam to the lathe or whatever. Then there is a flat part outside of that, that has two holes drilled in it, buit they do NOT go all the way through. Looks like a place for 2 small cylindrical magnets to sit in.

There should only be one right?
