7350, Throttle Cable
Posted by rabbi99, Nov-16-01 07:38 AM
What kind of tension should the throttle cable have? I can push it back and forth about an inch. How would I go about tightening it?
Thanks...

Are you saying that you can push it an inch and the throttle doesn't move at all? Well if thats it, then there is 2 10 millimeter bolts that hold the adjustment plate on the manifold. I have just a little slack on the cable, just so that there is a little play in it. I used to have it so it was taught, no slack, but it seemed like i just barely touched the pedal, and it was revving to much. The general rule of thumb is to have the pedal to the floor and have the throttle plate at full throttle. As long as you got that, its ok.

Pull off the intake tube and press the gas peddle down, either have a friend do it or use somethign to hold the peddle down. Then loosed the two 10mm bolts on the intake manifold that hold the throttle cable. Pull back on the bracket and tighten down, don't pull too hard just enough to remove the slack. Make sure the throttle plate is completely open. Then let the gas peddle up and make sure it's completely closed. As long as it completely closes then put the intake pipe back on and you're set to go.
