i was driven to work (it take about 30 mins to get there)about 15 mins into the ride the temp needle started to rise rapidly and didn't stop so i pull off and start to see steam from under the hood when i opened the hood i saw a hole on the upper radiator hose and to was spraying steam everywhere and the whole engine compartment was covered in dirt and nasty stuff. well i guy stop behide me to see what was wrong and gave me some water and i drove to work another 15 mins and it overheated again (of course f***ing hole) and some i filled some bottles with water and drove home after work and when it started to overheat i pulled off and let it cool and filled it up again and again until i got home. i went out and bought a new hose and replaced it but it still overheats and it fills the overflown tank so i bought a new radiator cap think thinking it was leaking but the new one still lets it overflow so i bought a new thermosat and it still overheats and then i took out the thermosat and now it does much better but if i go above 65mph or long then 45mins it starts to overheat but even if it doesn't overheat it still overflows into the overflow tank and i slowly lose coolant until it overheats i think its my waterpump but i don't have the money right now to have the timing belt pulled and replace the pump im not sure is the engine needs to be pulled out for that or not i have a 420a eclipse rs if there is anything else i can try or add or do or test to see if it is the water pump plz let me know

1st if it were the water pump, you would not be able to hold water in the cooling system. Once the water pump goes you would have a continous fall of water. (hehe 1st hand experience here) kinda like you are just pouring the water into the ground. Also you dont have to remove the motor to change the timing belt but it does help cause you dont have the engine bay getting in your way. When was the last time you had your radiator serviced/replaced??? You may have a clogged radiator or a bad one. If you can do a complete coolant flush, (and I dont mean just pour coolant into the system).Also you need to check both upper and lower radiator hoses. you may have fixed the top but the bottom could be screwed up also. No you dont need to pull the engine to do the timming belt. You can do it your self though. Do a search and i think there are a couple of writeups floating around here or buy a chiltons.
