What are you guys using for a spray HG sealer for the MLS gasket.....its friday night and no way to get the mopar shit....dont know any dealers open tomarrow.

MLS, dont use sealer. just make sure the deck, HG and head are clean when you put it on :thumbsup

I am almost positive that you are supposed to use the spray even with the mls gasket. I have used the permatex copper gasket spray on 2 headgaskets now with no leaks.

yeah you are right the TSB states a spray one saeler is to be used. I will p/u the copper spray tonight thanks

Sorry i just dont see how its funny....The TSB states to do it...the dealer usually does more than nesasary but i am not willing cut corners especially for less that 5.00. I am sure it works fine but i'll go with what the TSB says.

You can get away without using exhaust gaskets and just using sealer but i dont see anyone doing that...why because the 10.00 you save isnt worth the chance something will go wrong.

dude, he was just laughing at his own mistake. if you want to use the sealer just do it, i know i would just to be safe. if anything take turbos words to mean that MLS gaskets rock because even w/out sealant they dont leak.

oh i took it that he poking fun because i am being anal with this gasket....I really dont trust all metal gaskets...i am used to old school composites. Took me a while to accept the metal headgasket on my Harley...I just dont like the issue with Headgaskets especially when the factory screwwed up to begin with and wont recall the issue. I am going to spray it just because its recommended....do i do everything recommended by the dealer...hell no, i would have never made it made it as mechanic. The dealer probably only sprays it becasue the spray is on hand. I am sure you are right it prob isnt needed.

yea i know first hand that its not needed because ive never used it and ive never had a problem but go ahead and do it just to be safe, might as well if you're worried about it :thumbsup

i didnt mean to come across as lame or anything, i was laughing at my own mistake like spl said. gasket spray normally is applied on the OLD composite gaskets and not needed for the newer MLS

p.s- stock you dont have a mls gasket

yea i realize the factory is composite.....i cant say i have ever coated a composite.....perhaps that was my error. I really dont elieve you should have to coat any gasket.....the gasket is there to seal. I feel more secure relying on a gasket than the sealant. if its the sealant that you are relying on then why have a gasket....you know. eh enough rambling.....perhaps i will ask a friend of mine that used to work for eagle and see what he used to do with them. if its not nessasary i am not going to use it....i dont believe you should have to.

You don't HAVE to use the sealant on the MLS gasket,but you should, and I always have. The copper spray is mainly used for increasing the heat transfer from the head to the block deck, but it does help seal very, very fine imperfections of the head/block surfaces, if they are present. Also, the TSB is about the replacement MLS gasket, NOT about the old composites..

Yeah i was reading the can and it looks liek you said to prevent hot spots more than anything.....the name headgasket sealant is misleading. i think i am getting the big picture now.....the dealers intention is to like you said prevent hot spots that will cause warpage. Screw it i spent 5.00 on the can might as well use it now!

Always use an OEM 4-layer MLS headgasket from Dodge or Mitsubishi. The other ones suck.

I disagree. Fel-Pro MLS head gaskets are on par with OEM.
