i am sick of this BS...some newbie posts about stupid bullshit and it gets 9,000,000 replies i post a legitimate question and no one takes 5 seconds to help me...fucking christ...HERE IS MY CURRENT FUCKING SITUATION...

car ran fine until january when i removed the turbo kit...sat for 4 months while i collect parts and time to get it back to NA..5 days ago i get it done and crank it up..runs like complete shit...severe hesitation....so i figure ok, probably something simple...well after i let it warm up some, its to the point where it will drive fine, but as soon as i try to go WOT it just bogs out completely...also when i first start the car it has the misfire/ hesistation at idle...once the car is hot it goes away...ok some info-

-replaced o2
-swapped map sensor from working car..no change
-has NGK BKR 7E11 plugs for turbo app, gapped to .050
-screamin deamon coil pack
-fuel pump from a 95 avenger v6

so help.

When @WOT is it bogging as if too much fuel is getting dumped in? If your injectors are still stock and your fuel pressure as well, then it sounds like at open loop (WOT and warm up period if I am right) the timing/fuel ratios are not on. I am not sure which sensors to start diagnosing :shrug

Do you know anyone with a pocket logger in your area? That would help you see what the ECU is doing during warm-up/WOT.

hey justin, i just realized that almost all of the parts on my neon are 2gnt compatible, lol. time to start swapping things out IMO. give me a call this weekend, we'll get her working again.

i was thinking the same thing, but i KNOW justin isnt that dumb, lol. we'll try the ones off of my neon first though, just to make sure.

Relax man.

Check your coolant temp sensor, all the things that effect fuel trim. Also a clogged exhaust or O2 sensor.

A datalogger would be nice.

And next time stay calm.

Install stock plugs....good chance thats your problem and go to the local liquer store and get a good bottle of vodka and get piss drunk dude.....you need it...lol

Disconnect the battery to force the car to re-learn the fuel curve....you shouldnt have to but hey its a free try. I wouldnt be surprised if its the plugs though.

yeah, its right under hte thermostat.
if you have an ohmmeter, you can check whether it works or not on the car.
just disconnect the harness from it, and measure hte resistance cold.
it should be between 9000-11000 ohms @~72F/25C
i knew mine was bad cuz the resistance was 48kOhms.
they cost like 40 bux from satan, i found a site online to get em for 14 bux tho, ill post the link later
check the resistance first IMO before spending $$

Uhm, Justin the gap for plugs running off the Screamin Demon coil pack is .065, not .050. Having a gap of .050 on a SD pack will make your car run like shit cuz i tried doing that.....bleh! Up your gap to .065

Also most likely your coolant temp sensor cuz my car did the same shit, but you know, i've tld you all this on AIM LOL

finally some help..thanks to you all...anyways, i am going to check the CTS today if i can get my hands on an ohm meter...and unfortunatly there isn't anyonearound here with a pocket logger and the only CEL i have is for the rear o2(no cat)....i did have the plugs gapped to .065, was no change...and before i went turbo i had them gapped at .050 with the SD and it ran fine....but heres a question- do coolant temp sensors tend to die if the car sits??...and how do i go about checking the TPS and IAC to make sure they are in order as well??

Ok my car is hesitating like mad, but when i go into full throttle it seems to bog and and then just get on its ass and go.

Why would the coolant temp sensor possibly cure that car from hesitating? Just curious. My coolant temp needle is just where it should be. Does that mean that things are kosher with the sensor?

Dont mean to hijack, but any additional help would be greatly appreciated

Your coolant temp sensor doesn't have anything to do with the needle. There is a different name for that sensor. The coolant temperature sensor tells the ECU what temp coolant is so the ecu knows how hot the engine is running. When mine went out it was telling the ECU that my engine was running at -29 degrees all the time so the ECU was dumping in shitloads of fuel and opening the IAC all the way to compensate and just givnig me all kinds of idle/fuel problems.

So yes, it can be caused by a bad CTS, and you'd never know it by looking at your gauge :thumbsup

Get the goddamn fucking right plugs and set the goddamn fucking right gap. Maybe throw in a goddamn fucking stock coil pack, and read the goddamn fucking chiltons.

actually, my first symptom was my fans not working, and i checked all the other faults and figured out it had to be my ECT sensor, but my gauge DID work. then i fiddled w/ it when i checked the resistance, and when i put hte wiring harness back on, and was warming up the car to check hte hot resistance, the gauge was almost halfway, and i looked away and it was at below zero.
it continued to do this until i replaced the ECT sensor, at which time hte gauge displayed the temp properly.
as i understand from the electrical diagrams in the factory service manual, the temp sensor gives its output to hte ECU, and the ECU is what tells the temp gauge what to display

No, there are 2 sensors for coolant temp, both are on the thermostat housing. The one sensor that has an actual wire harness plug, its a two wire, is the sensor that feeds the ECU coolant temps. This sensor tells the ECU how/when to add more fuel for warmup, ect..and also, the sensor that turns the fan on at *around* 206 degrees. The other temp sensor on the thermo housing, it has one wire coming off of it, is for the dash gauge only. The ECU has nothing to do with the dash temp gauge reading.

Exactly. Small sending unit for gauge, large one for ECU.

Justin, I may have another extra coolant temp sensor, eventhough they are less than 20 bucks from autozone. But if you want I can try to find it, As for the O2 sensor, I read that 95-96 and 97-99's have different actual sensors too, not just the plugs, so even when we hard wired the sensor on w/o the plugs I wonder if it could still be wrong??? I dont know, eventhough the wire colors were the same, beats ms. let me know if you need any other parts you wanna try, of course the only thing I'll charge ya is a blow job, but anymore I dont even have to ask, you just do it :) muahaha, hit me up on aim or somethin man, did you get that damn plug that the whore sent usps? peace homie, keep patience, the beast will return

ok....plugs changed, CTS checked...CTS is good, no change in how it runs...its really fucking wierd...ok, when i first start it...horrible idle..can't rev it without it nearly dying because of hesitation/misfire...then at the same exact time everytime during warm up, it does a little rev by itself and the idle smooths out to perfect, can rev it fairly well without a hitch...but just not able to got over say 60-70% throttle....so whats next?? FPR? IAC? TPS? what????????
73440, RE: ok...if i don't get some GODDAMN F**KING HELP..ima blow you all away
Posted by grn95esiguy, Apr-23-04 06:34 PM
yeah, i'd check the TPS and the IAC, even if the IAC comes up as good, you might want to take it off and clean it up good. my esi has been given me some weird idle/load problems, and with each fix it helps a little, but still have problems... but yeah, the IAC motor might just be gummed up with buildup and need cleaned. hope this helps.

The 95-96 have the same SENSOR as far as I know because I just swapped one off of my 97 parts car to my 95. The CONNECTOR is different so you either have to order one for a specific year OR change connectors when swapping.

Did you put the fpr back in? I'm talking about the one that is back by the fuel filter and tank. You probably did, but I just thought I would mention it.

no, its deff just way way too much gas being dumped..so much its causing it to "flood" and misfire....everything in the engine bay has checked out, next thing for me to do it swap out FPR's and fuel pumps...my best guess at this point is that the walbro combined with the vortec overloaded the stock FPR and killed it.

sorry that was a typo..only one pump still in the car...but its from a 95 avenenger v6...which is slightly diff size...so that may also have something to do with it...
