7293, Help with security feature in Spyder
Posted by Louis, Nov-15-01 02:41 PM
Hey guys,
I got an email from someone in Curacao with this question. I don’t have this security feature, don’t know if it may be just a spyder thing but if someone knows about it, please let me know so I can answer him.

>>I have just bought a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Convertible GS 1998 model.
Yesterday, I pressed the doorlock button before I locked the driver door and a green SECURITY light in the dashboard came on.
Today, when I wanted to restart the engine, there is no
response ... the battery is cut off.
Can u tell me how to reactivate the engine... and what website can I go to to get the security features downloaded as I got no manual with the car...
Thanks<<

I'd figure you should be able to reactivate it with the same control right? Sounds kinda like a kill switch device..

The site is not accessable!

I need the electrical for the 99 eclipse so I can remove the
$#@$#@ factory antitheft system and install a new alarm. the damn thing likes to go off intermittently, and you can only reset with the key in the door.

Thanks,
Tom

This is for my daughter's car. gotta protect the system!!!

Well its possible that the system is not disarming. Take your key and use it in the drivers door key cylinder to unlock the car. This usually will disarm the system. The spyder alarm system might have a engine disabler in it, i'm not sure though. Also, be sure to check your battery voltages to be sure thats ok. The factory alarm should activate when the drivers door is opened and you hit the lock switch on the door then close it. It should also arm by using the transmitter. You should be able to disarm it by using the key in the door and using the transmitter to unlock it. If these methods aren't working, there is somthing wrong with the security system.

I am having this issue as well,... the one where the alarm goes off intermitently using the the key in the drivers side sometimes does not disarm it and when i open the door, the alarm goes off and its a real pain in the ass. Anyone know how to disable it? I've tried the fuses but no such luck. really, i'm about ready to disable the horn!
