7278, My gst muffler just came in

is this easy to put on? im tired of hassling with muffler shops. ive already seen a shop put my old stock muffler back on. all he did was bolted it up to the gasket and weld some hangers on. how much should he charge to just swap the two?

Do it yourself, it is a direct bolt on. All you do is jack up the left rear of your car and unbolt the old muffler and then bolt up the new one, it should already have the hangers on it. It will save you money and you will be just that much more comfortable working on your own car.

LAST EDITED ON 16-Nov-01 AT 00:11 AM (PST)

I did this today, the freaking muffler was from a Talon TSI, they had to cut the first bend from the muffler, and weld it there, total cost 10 dlls here in mexico, but before that i tried to do it my self, couldn't one freaking bolt was jammed or something and didnt had antisieze( or whatever name it is). i give you an advice, is simple enough to do it yourself, you just need 12 mm and/or 14 mm tools (wrench or something). just remember to spray WD-40 or something like that because theme bolts are a B I T C H to take of...

Yep 99GS is right, when you take off your exhaust you will take off the bolts for those hangers, you just reverse the process for the the installation of the GST exhaust

they are only bolts...12mm and 14 mm, take of the rear left tire, unbolt the bolts, 6 in total (3 Hangers, and 3 on the connection, then it's off, thake remove the connection bolts first (14 mm ones), they are very hard to take off do to the rust, then take off the hangers....

A few posts up there was a guy who said he got one from a Talon TSI, if it was from a FWD it still bolts on without modification. (thats what was on our N/T before the WS) The AWD piping whould need to me modified to fit.
