dammit....i was installing my rings, and i was on my third piston, 2nd ring....i installed it upside down and when i went to take it off to flip it, i snapped it....i highly doubt ill be able to buy one.... so im going to see if i can get the machine shop to warranty them.... unless anyone happens to have an extra number 2 ring laying around? another question...i was told to dip the pistons, with the rings on them in oil...then slide them into the cylindars...does that sound right? thanks

You don't want a used ring, that's for sure. I don't know if anyone will have a spare just stiiting around. You are supposed to do the oil dip thing. That is corresct sir. I managed to get one piston almost all the way into the cylinder before I noticed one of the rings was twisted and sticking up out hte side. I need to maybe get some new rings before I do the new head too. Trust me. Do everything you can now to make sure your rings are perfect. You don't want to get done and do a compression test and have to wonder if your numbers are off because of that one ring or something else. It really sucks. It's the one part about my rebuild that still haunts me over 11,000 miles later. Why I pull 180s across the board with 10.5:1 pistons. Is it the head? Is it the rings? Is it ever going to end? LOL

Problem will be solvd by August for sure. :thumbsup
