72583, Belt sqeeks when I'm turning.. Posted by DSMRoadster, Apr-09-04 04:40 PM
I sprayed wd40 on the accessory belts and added more power steering fluid, but the squeeking noise is there and pretty loud when I turn the wheel all the way to both sides. Anyone gotta fix or know what's causing it?
*Edit* You woudln't believe this shiat. I had my buddy look at the belt while I was turning and he noticed that when I turn the power steering belt would stop turning. So I thought the bolt was loose and went to tighten it. That mother fucker broke off the motor mount! It took a part of the motor mount with it.
*Edit-again* I just went to look at it and the powersteering mount broke off too! So now I need a new passenger side motor mount and power steering motor mount. Think my powersteering went? How many of you guys out there drive without any accessories?

WHAT!!!!!! how the hell did that happen, and what bolt were you trying to tighten, lol!?!??!?!
ive never heard of the accesory belt just stopping like that. in actuality, theres no way the belt COULD just "stop", unless the crank stopped turning, or the harmonic balancer was super-duper loose. no clue man, i hope you get it fixed.

no the belt didn't stop. The pulley stopped turning. So when I went to tighten the power steering pulley, that damn fucker took off a piece of the motor mount and the ps mount. Does this mean I won't have heat?

youll have heat, youre thinking of the waterpump...and if that goes bad youve got bigger problems, LOL. that particular system drives the a/c and p/s pumps, so youll not have those. no biggie though, they arent neccisary.
jeebus you must be strong as hell to break those pieces...i still dont get how you brok the motor mount though. are you talking about the one that holds the engine to the area on the strut tower? or are you just talking about the THICK ass piece that attaches the p/s pump to the block? or both?
edit: do a search for "no power sterring a/c" and youll find that a bunch of people have gone without them at one point or another. i actually prefer the feel of not having p/s, but i dislike having a/c, only becuase it gets humid and fogs up my windows easily.

Well I just took up the accesory belt, so let's see how much more power I'll be getting tomorrow. I wonder how long I can drive like this for. I think my power steering pump may be done, because the lines going to it was leaking.

Holy shit does the car pull without all that accesory shit. Nonetheless it gets to be a pain, but it's a good workout. I notice my fluid leaks from my ps pump. So I guess I need a new one. Do all Eclpise or Galant have the same ps pumps? They're selling them on ebay for like 20-40 bucks.
