I just put my 55mm TB on a few nights ago. Drove the car all day today and I would say it's a $100 well spent. Not mind blowing performance increase, but noticeable. BTW, I'm NA.

Yeah go to http://www.howellautomotive.com for it, you can get yours bored to 55mm for $100 or buy one for $250 I think.
Other places have them but are more expensive, or the same price and I would rather see Gary get the money.

how long did it take to remove your throttle body and what tools do you need?
|
7266, RE: Throttle Body & low end torque Posted by Fast420A, Nov-15-01 05:49 PM
Take off the intake piping, remove the 2 bolts that hold the TB to the manifold. Then in should be loose, then you just need to remove the wiring harness for the sensors and the vac line.

You take yours off and send it to them, they bore it to 55mm and send it back to you. So, if you can't be without your car for about two weeks (although it only took them a week to do mine) then I would either buy a new throttle body or find one to rent here on the board while yours if off. I don't think anyone has dynoed their car before and after the throttle body, so it is hard to give exact figures on performance increase. You will definitely notice an increase in acceleration, and since your getting better airflow you probably gain some ponies. Like I said earlier, $100 well spent.

You should be able to get a used TB for the $50-$75 range. Still under the price they charge for new one.

7270, RE: Throttle Body & low end torque Posted by CVedEclipse, Nov-17-01 05:06 PM
damn, i really want to get mine done for 100 bucks, but i dont think that i can have my car not functioning for a week. anyone know of a TB that i can get my hands on? the cheaper the better! sucks being a full time student with no job. :-)

7271, RE: Throttle Body & low end torque Posted by Stan2gnt, Nov-17-01 11:22 PM
http://www.car-part.com you are almost garuanteed to find one cheap from someone there. I found an intake manifold off a yard from there and to my suprise when I got it the TB and sensors were still attached (got lucky).

thanks for the help, there are a million parts (29 so they say) on that site, one more question for all yall. i drive a 95RS, and was wondering if all 2GNA's would work with mine (regaurdless of year and model that is)? thanks again for the help, appreciated.

7273, RE: Throttle Body & low end torque Posted by DarkOne, Nov-18-01 05:41 AM
Pretty much, yeah. As long as it's a 2GNT, just about all the parts are swappable minus some fuelsystem and emissions parts.

7274, RE: Throttle Body & low end torque Posted by hellhound, Nov-20-01 09:55 AM
Speaking of swapping parts man....You ever hear anything about the 62mm TB off of a Dodge Caravan...Do they fit? ...can they be made to fit? Man ...Old Caravan carcasses are at a premeuim in the mid west..I know 62mm is pretty damn big..but with the intake im designing it should still have velocity... Hellhound
