72211, PLEASE RESPOND QUICKLY!!
Posted by EclipsedChef, Apr-05-04 03:55 PM
I just went out to move my car to the location where i was going to change out the head, and the car wont even start now. This morning before work i started the car and it was still tapping like mad around cylinder number one. Well tonight when i tried to start it, it sounded like the battery was dead, it was very slow when cranking, and it started for two seconds or so but immediately died. Does this sound like a bent valve or a cracked ring/ ringland<--dont know if thats even the right word. The tapping defenitly sounded like a valve hittting the piston, but from this morning until now i didnt hear any weird noises while it was running. Any help is apprecaited!!

my old talon (4g63) did this..the tensioner went and the timing belt was really loose....this might not be your problem, but just a thought...check your compression...that'll tell you if you have a cracked ringland.... and like he said ^^^ you might just need a little extra juice...let us know a little more

Don't pay for a tow before you try charging the battery up.

don't you have to replace the tensioner anyway after removing the head? (assuming it hasn't been replaced before)

depends, im assuming you should but so far ive had good luck. Im halfway through removing the head and everything looks fine. I tried to start it one more time and it started but just pooped out on me. Everything under the valve cover looks fine, and i can see the valves through the exhaust manifold ports and they look fine too. Someone suggested a bad lifter, which would be great, but tomorrow i'll have pics and more infor for you.

its not that the car doesnt have juice, the battery is two days old. Its that the car shuts off right after start up and sounds like something is off, i know when the battery would be a problem. Thanks for your help everyone, i'll let you know if it cranks tonight.
