Ok...Im probably annoying but uh yeah how does everyone take off the oil filter?...I had the most annoying time today trying to get it off.

10 dollar oil filter wrench I got at autozone. Look like channel locks with fangs. :P

When you tighten it, get it hand tight, then go 1/4 tur. This will ease things when u go to take it off. Also put some of the old oil on the rubber gasket to ensure a good seal. You can also fill the filter up before you put it on. I use a $2.50 tool that goes on my ratchet to help remove the filter, but I also use fram tough guard which has a rubber boot on the bottom.

the oil wrench is the way to go without a doubt......

My bare hands. If you cannot do that yourself, you are tightening it too much or you have puny forearms. :nono

I do use oil filter wrenches at work, but that is because I am trying to take off a filter that another mechanic put on with the wrench. :thumbsdown

heh..this would be the first time I changed it myself...I didnt feel like doing it in the winter so I let penzoil do it..why are ppl are most auto parts places dicks....

cuz they all think they are right and when u prove them wrong they get frustrated....I love it when they try to tell me something that I know they aren't even close to bein right about....

I went to change mine and the dealership must of had the world's strongest man doing my oil change. I had no oil wrench but I did have a screwdriver and a hammer. You simply hammer the screwdriver threw the middle of the filter (yeah, I know it makes a mess) until it comes out the other side. Then you twist the screwdriver. I actually had to do this three times in different spots until the damn thing could be turned by hand. It makes a mess, but it does the job!

lol....thats an interesting way of doin it....a lil too messy for me I'll stick with the wrench

you could spend an extra 4 dollars for the K & N oil filter and it has a nut on the bottom of it. easiest by far. or you could get a strap wrench from an autoparts store. this is what i use if the k & n is out of stock
