okay, was being kinda dumb tonight and spun tires in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.. then noticed my autometer oil pressure gauge reading 0 psi. i still have pressure cause stock light is not on, no oil leaks anywhere, no codes, and she still runs fine. Is it possible i did something to the sender unit?

I assume it's an electrical gauge by the use of the word sender.

I would check all electrical connections to and from the guage and sender. Then yes it's possible the sender went bad.

It's holding down the garage floor right now.

I went through two of them. First one just failed, second one the wire got melted on the EGR tube and it never worked after that.

OT: i've got an extra autometer oil pressure sender if you need one...

I have gone through 4 of these, each time Autometer replaced the busted one for free. It seems that the 420A engines eat these pretty easily.

For instance I watched it blow one night when I was running 100mph on the interstate and down shifted to 80mph to avoid a speeding ticket. The next thing I know the oil gauge read 0psi.

Its a shame but dont waste the time replacing it.

Autometer is good about warranty claims, if it is the sender they will replace it.

Another reason I prefer mechanical gauges.

I've been through 2 of them as well.

Autometer rules for warranty/replacement.

^^ I 2nd that... Ward in Service Dept. is the fuckin' man.

Edit: and umm.. mechanical is nice umm... but of course I have to bring up the oil line running into the cockpit issue... I had a mechanical forever and a day and didnt have any probs... but if it split or something... umm.. that would suck...

This is the 3rd car I've had a mechanical oil pressure gague in and I've never had a problem wit them. :shrug

Yea, like I said, I had a mechanical and I think it was a little faster response... I just swapped it out for a few bucks one time when I was bored.

I'm about to be on my third. For some reason the first two only lasted a few days before they crapped out. We'll see how this one does.

Mechanical is fasterreacting and more accurate. The nylon line is tough stuff. I've taken an old line twisted bend pulled on. The only thing I could get the line to do was kink.

If you run the line right, tighten it down with teflon tape so it all seals, you won't see a problem. You can always get an SS line for the gauge too. I get whatevergauges I can in mechanical.
