71479, Can it be???? No CEL's???
Posted by Michael_97RS, Mar-25-04 06:21 PM
Thanks to SilverNT for the extra pair of (bitch) hands. FInally tore into the RS.

Redid timing, indexed the cam gears to compensate ofr the mill. After about a half a tooth adjustment. starting the car and running her a few times, no CEL's. So I'll re-register her and see if anything pops up.

I suppose in a way it's a she lives post.

Do0d. You are so f'ed right now. Never, ever, say you have no CELs. Those are the magic words that summon the wrath of the CEL gods and they will strike down upon you with great vengence. I'd suggest you sacrifice a Honda or something quick to CYA. :P

If there's no CEL, your car is either slow or something's horribly wrong. :squint

the funny thing about all of this, when we saw there were no CEL's, both of us just started cracking up laughing. Glad we actually accomplished this mike, as said before, it was about damn time! Glad i was a part of this great occasion.

That CEL is impossible to avoid! :-P

I know he was attempting to implement a resistor trick.

Has it worked?

Since we messed around with it down in Springfield that weekend, I've been running around with no EGR system, a resistor and no code. And no code on two separate ECU's in the car.

I've had just about every other code under the sun though.

I beg to differ sir. Prototype block off system has been installed for over 3 months now with no CEL and she even passed emissions. Details coming soon...

EDIT:
Oh yeah and it requires no cutting/soldering/rigging either.
You'll see...

I didnt have a CEL for the LONGEST time, then as Im pulling into the inspection station.. BAM! CEL pops up, in my quick thinkin I popped off the chromed cluster bezel, slipped a piece of electrical tape over the light and put the bezel back on.

Guy didnt know it was an ODBII car and didnt test it that way.

CEL was "thermostat temp output high" or something lame like that.

Id like to hera aboyut this EGR thingie, I still have mine hooked up cause I fear the CEL, but would like to remove it now that Im a texan

Like I said, this EGR mod we're testing here is bolt on. No cutting, hacking, soldering and you can convert it back to stock in 15 minutes if you *wanted* to.

I would let the details go, but everyone here knows what happened last time I had an idea and gave details in advance... :P

I can bet I know exactly what you did... I have had a plan for a while now that would block the EGR without throwing a CEL...

It's pretty simple really... you just have to know WHY the ECU throws a CEL for "Insufficient EGR Flow"
Because that's the one that a resistor won't fix...

Think about it... if you know what causes that CEL... then you know how to fool it... :cheers
