Thanks....the black coating believe it or not is just after the block has been cleaned and baked Thats it....I had it coated blue however, pics of that coming as soon as I pick it up this afternoon.
Dyno will be next weekend hopefully.

This is funny IMO so I thought I'd share. Damn snag occured today.....Shop stated that the water pump was bad saying the pump's mating surface wasnt lining up with the block and wanted me to put a whole new water pump in. Tried to charge me another $400 for a new water pump and installation and it would take about 5 hours. Now I just replaced the waterpump 1 month ago. Then G/F called the shop and ripped them a new one and told them in her own words," you guys are so stupid, check the damn gasket ***holes, it may have slipped during installation. If you want to I'll go there and do it myself." I was like "OH YEAH, BABY YOU GO!!!!!" Any way I thought it was funny and you Gotta love DSMers and the women support us. LOL

Yet another snag guys.....I have been without my car now for about 1 month now and I was suppose to pick up the car today. The engine turned fine and everything seemed to work great but some how there was still an oil leak somewhere so they are taking it all apart again. I am soooo getting sick of this waiting....remind me to just get a new car next time I have a crazy idea of doing a rebuild.

I spoke too soon.... I think I have a rod knocking now. I just got the car back on tuesday and it ran nice. 97 miles later I was going about 90 and the CEL turned on and I started to hear a light tapping from the cylinder 1 area. There is a little oil on the valve cover from that area also. I checked all the the spark plugs and there is no oil on them. Now I thought it could have been the Timing Belt cover rattling against the block but then that Damn CEL came on. I am sooo pissed off right now.

dont know if a rod knocking would set off your cel or not but autozone pulls them for free :) the only thing i would think is its making your knock sensor go nuts but this is the first i've heard of a cel for that. mine didn't go off when my rod was knocking. damned mitsu engines :)

I agree with ^^^^^^ My rod knock was really bad for a long time before it finally gave up. i had no CEL the whole time. just pull the code and check it out. hope it turns out ok

I wish I had the knowledge to do engine rebuilds. If I had that knowledge my money would be there instead of saving for doing rims and body work.

LEARN! That's how everyone starts :-) Just download the FSM's and familiarize yourself with the overhaul process... Then do it!

Thank God.....I just took a break and found out it was just a lifter issue and I am re doing them now. I went to autozone and had them pull the code and it was the EGR valve that set it off. Took a look at it was fried so am ordering a new one and I should be done by Monday the latest. Ill keep you posted.
