I've noticed today that when I was driving my shifter feels really loose. You can move it up and down easily in the Neutral zone like 1 inch, wheel the knob moves about 1 inch, is this ok or is my tranny ready to go? It still shifts good despite this play.

By chance do you have a B&M short shifter? Mine was doing pretty much the same thing. I was able to move mine about .50" side to side. took to center console off to figure what the problem was and it turns out that the mounting bolt on my b&m started unscrewing it self. Grabbed some threadlock and tighted the bolt back down and it was good as new. the shifter play was all gone..

Yes, my short shifter had these problems as well. Loose bolt. Take it apart and make sure you have everything installed correctly. Check the spring.

Yes, both times my shifter was starting to crap out completely it was because of that damned spring inside there. The dealershit said it was my bushings and I got raped twice for that and a bunch of nonexisting parts on my invoices. SO, just tear it apart, put everything back together, tighten the spring up some with a clamp and try to compress it back if it's stretched a lil. Do you have the metal bushing kit? Cause that helped me out alot as well.....

BTW...even with my Hurricane_GS short shifter and metal bushing kit I still have a little play from left to right, but it's been driving like a champ ever since, fyi.
