If fed up with the problems my milled head has given me, and i have a head sitting in my room with 90xxx miles one it. When i removed it from the block i did the standard 1-10 bolt removal and the head gasket looked perfect, no bad spots at all. Is it safe to put it on my car with out taking it in? Also, i know bob kise has good deals on parts, but where can i find the Fel Pro headgasket replacement set if there are any cheaper places? What else should/can i do?

yep, i already checked out their site, 129.95 isnt bad..i was just hoping there might be a cheaper felpro set somewhere

all the gasket set is is:

head gasket
intake mani gaskets
exhaust mani gaskets
thermostat gasket
valvecover gasket
cam seals
cam sensor o ring

i probobly missed come other things, but thats the majority of it. if all you need is the head gasket, go to dodge, its $40 and some change. you can usually reuse the intake/exhaust mani gaskets as well as valvecover(provided it's not leaking). if you go this route, it will save you $90 of money that you might not need to spend. just giving you a heads up.

ps:always have a machinist inspect the head surface for warpage. i doubt you want to do all of this work and find out your head is warped. just because your gasket looked fine, doesnt eliminate the possibility of minor warpage.

i never thought about reusing gaskets, but if you say so then i'll go ahead and do that..saving money is the key right now. Im only doing this because i have to, this milled head is driving me insane. Any more info?

buy a thing of rtv, youll need it for the cam caps, and valvecover gasket. also, get a can of Permatex "Copper spray-a-gasket, spray both sides of the headgasket and compression side of the cyl head. if you do that, it will help seal the gasket to prevent leakages. follow the torque sequence/specs on everything.

Just wondering...what kind of problems were you having with your milled head? Mine is ported/milled and I was debating on going back to stock, but with my current cam gear settings, it seems to run almost like stock. Most of the other power mods are off of my car already though.

the car would hesitate and bog and just not have any power until i hit 4k rpms or so. Now, with any setting i try it still runs the same way, it makes me think i bent a valve..i also have a tick in the head area as well now. Im going to try a few more things today and see what i can come up with.

i hate to vulture...but how much would u want for the milled head?

You have adjustable cam gears and can't get her to run right?

Either you haven't found the right setting or somethign else is the cause of your problem. How much was the head milled? What exhaust set up are you running?

well after driving the car today its running much better, im going to try a different setting today and drive it a bit. The head is supposedly milled .050 and i have a gst catback with a gutted cat.
