I removed my left engine mount to replace the timing belt and head gasket. The half that attaches to the car came off fine but the half that attaches to the engine cant seem to squeeze out of the small space it has. I heard I can drill to remove the screws but thats my last option. I tried moving it and pulling it out everyway possible but it still wont fit out of the small area its in. I raised and lowed the engine with no luck. Any suggestions? Also would it be ok to run the car with out a timing belt cover? mine snapped off in the removal process. Keep in mind I live in Ohio so theres lots of bad weather. thank you

Basically, you have to remove the bolts that you can, and leave the one that can't come out inside the bracket, but out of the head, and pull it out w/ the bracket.

You will need to disconnect at least the rear or front (maybe both) to jack the engine high enough to pull it out.

You may need to ben the power steering lines a little to, w/ a prybar, maybe not though.

Just work w/ it, it's hard the first time.

You do not have to remove the front or rear mount at all you are just making more work for yourself. I have gotten mine out. this way. Leave the one bolt in that will not come out. loosen it out of the head as stated but leave it in the bracket. jack the motor up to your liking and wiggle the bracket out. you may have to try the engine in a few spots to find the spot that works best for you.

IMO I wouldnt do it if it were my daily driver. All it takes is just 1 little stupid pebble to get lodged into the cam gears to screw up your timing. However I know some people that do and some that don't.

've been running with no TB cover for a while now, with no problems untill about 2 weeks ago :(. TB came off due to tensioner breaking, dont know if the cover would've really helped or not in that case

I've run w/o the timing belt cover on for a long time now, it's a preference.
