71211, clutch engages way too early Posted by 96rs2turbo, Mar-22-04 05:23 AM
When I go to change gears on my 96rs I only have to barely push the clutch pedal in about and 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches at most. What is causing this problem the car only has 76,000 miles on her. I bought her used so I don't know how the first owner drove her. Do I need to replace the clutch, maybe bleed, or replace the clutch master cylinder? Can someone please help before something bad happens to my car, I don't want to get stranded somewhere. It got really bad a few weeks ago when I wanted to hear her peal out and haven't done it since.

I would suggest you bleed it either way. I think there's an adjustment for the pedal somewhere, but I'm not 100% sure on that. With these cars, it's usually the simplest of things that cause the most strife. :P
