Shit.. I am || this close and I broke the rear o2 sensor.
Anyway, here is how it looks like


This is the O2 sensor AFTER the cat. (the rear one)

Ok, I really don't want to waste more money on stupid o2 sensor, and I want to do the resistor mod. I did the search and tons came out. but mostly are for adding a 1/4 watt and 1 megaohm inline with the black wire.

But what I see is 4 wires, two white, one black and one grey. That's ok that's not the question.
But my question is. Now my O2 (see ^^^) is broken into two pieces, how should I wire it? or I HAVE TO get a new o2 sensor?

Any post concerning the rear O2 sensor should never have the word "URGENT!" in it. Just plug it with the busted piece and drive it. It's not like an emmissions check engine light is going to hurt anything...

All that thing does is trip a CEL. It's about as urgent as a stain under your floormat or something. :P Congrats Gil! This time something broke that you can just say "fuck it" about and the car will be just fine. Pop another Valium and call it a day. :thumbsup

gil, im gonna beeotch slap you, knoobe!!!! your "Rear o2 mod" is a 1 mega ohm 1/4 amp resistor spliced (read soldered) into the black wire on the rear harness.

Radio shack $.89 pack of five!!!

I said the O2 is in 2 pieces, and everyone said it won't work. and as I SAID< I DID THE SEARCH and I know it's 1Megaohm and 1/4 watt.

anyway, I fixed the problem, even with a 2 pieces o2.
(I hope it's fixed)

Gil, I had the same problem - broke my rear o2 sensor. I don't think the resistor mod will work for you. I ended up getting an o2 simulator from Casper Electronics. It's part #104037 O2 SIM-RETROFIT - http://www.casperselectronics.com/cgi-local/store/commerce.cgi?product=IMPORTS Its a bit more expensive then the resistor, but I think its still less expensive than a real o2 sensor and the best part is that you won't have to worry about it giving you a cel again. Mine has been working flawlessly for well over a year now.

GUYs...ever since I put that broken o2 sensor back on.
it's over 100miles and 3 days now.
No CEL at all. so I believe it's all good.

As you can see from the pic above, the O2 is in two pieces.
I weld the front piece (make it like a nut) and cover the o2 sensor hole of the exhaust pipe.
Then on the other side, I just wrap it tight so no water goes in, and just do the resistor mod inline with the black wire.

Perfect!
So no need to waste any money (I spent $0 and 15 mins on it)
