Looking good Shaun.

I'm content with my HRC kit, but I am looking for a better exhaust manifold. The log that comes with the Hahn kit is pretty poopy. How hard you think it would be to produce a manifold for the 16G?

Looking forward to those pics..

Poopy HRC Manifold?

Dave, my man, you're a good fan, but need I remind you that we have run 9.80's @ over 150 MPH ('bout 625 HP) with that manifold? I must take exception with the 'poopy' adjective, at least until something else comes along that betters those numbers....

I would also wait to see if these NER manifolds will crack. I am concerned with a stainless steel tubular design. Looks pretty but not very comforting in strength.

No worrys the manifold was designed by a pro drag racing team I do not think it will crack but if it ever did it would be no prob to get a replacement.

Jeff_99gs ,

At this time I am not working on one but once these kits are rolling I am going to look in to making a kit for the 16G and 20G turbo fans out there. You would be able to get a manifold for a 16G that we make at that time.

What is the difference between an E-, B-, and ball bearing turbos, I know a ball bearing turbo has less resistance to work with than the others so it spools faster and boost comes on quicker, but I dont know what the others mean. Help a brother out.

Haha I have the Ball Bearing T3/T4 and I don't notice anything special with it, seemed like a waste of money :( Maybe I just need to turn up the boost hehe.... But oh well got it at a group buy. That's a sweet kit, kind of pricey (maybe I'm just poor from buying the Star kit) though. Is the dump pipe welded onto the downpipe already? I like the setup if I could trade my downpipe and manifold in for a NewEdge I would hehe.

Well since your so unimpressed and poor I'll be glad to take if off your hands for a few $100 and you can have my regular T3/T4E. Turning up the boost wont decrease lag time so send it to me already.

Kit looks great....but I am very impressed at the HRC kits, the numbers and the proven track record. Me personally am gonna go with HRC.But who knows maybe once these kits get the usage time under their belts they might be a contender.Great Work!!

1TuffRS,

A B-Trim Turbo is a standard turbo that has a Inducer Diameter of 1.484 and a Major Diameter of 2.367 on a 40 trim compressor wheel in the compressor housing.

A E-Trim Turbo has a Inducer Diameter of 1.870 and a Major Diameter of 2.950 on a 40 trim compressor wheel in the compressor housing.

This makes the air flow a little better and and produces a little more power at boost.

Can you explain some of the higher level kits' fuel systems briefly?

By that, I mean the inclusion of Accell Dual Inline Fuel Pumps (does that mean TWO inline fuel pumps?),8 RC Engineering 550cc Injectors (does that mean 4 direct replacements and then 4 more drilled as well?) New Edge Racing Electronic Injector Controller (what is this?)

Thanks!

In a nutshell, it's like a REBIC or an AIC.. it's an injector controller. I don't know the specifics.. Shaun will have to answer that.

Could be a DFI for all i know.. DFI's will control up to 16 injectors or something.. heh

JasonESi_T,

Ok Ill give you a quick run down.

1. The inclusion of Accell Dual Inline Fuel Pumps - I am kicking this around but right now I am saying 2 pumps to make sure there is enough fuel, in the system at high boost, most people who run this setup would have there motor work done and be ready for more boost, well more boost = more fuel needed in the system. But early test show that one pump may be all thats needed.

2. 8 RC Engineering 550cc Injectors - 4 of the injectors are a direct replacement for the stock injectors and there will be 4 drilled as well in the intake manifold side.

3. New Edge Racing Electronic Injector Controller - Like darkone said its like the REBIC or an AIC, This system that is being worked on activates the other 4 injectors to contorl the new dutty cycle.

Thanks
Shaun Frank

What is the purpose of two inline pumps? Why 8 injectors? Why even 4 550cc's for that matter? This fuel setup sounds off. I would like to hear some technical details on this setup. I am aware that it is still being sorted out, but why would you even consider this route?

Oh, I am curious about why you chose a 40trim wheel as well. What is the A/R on these turbos?

What is the spec on the Star kit? Does anybody know?

STAR uses the 40 trim compressor wheel. NER's BB turbos are the 60-1 series.

if there is only a $10 diff in the b trim and E tri, why not just drop the B trim, stick with only the E, then you can have more in stock and it would be easier to keep track of... sorry for the advice, im a business major so these things catch my eye.

possibly because neither design is really better (e-trim and b-trim), they are just different. Deciding which is better depends on the car and perhaps personal preference.

But sometimes giving customers too many options (such as E or B trim with a 10 dollar price difference) will confuse them. I personally would just make the two the same price, and list benefits of one over the other. Or just offer one to make things simpler.
