70075, First start after rebuild... Turns over, but no fire HELP HELP HELP!!!! Posted by tim97rs, Mar-07-04 05:43 AM
Bunch-o-questions!! okay, i know i got my crank in the right spot cause the Timing gears turn:9 , but im not gettin it to fire.
-How long does it typicaly take for there to be enough fuel and air mix to ignite in the chamber during the first turn-on?
-How can i check for spark?
-new crane springs and cams. -MSD is uplugged with jumper plugged in (so its back to "factory" wiring) -all factory plugs are plugged in. -fuel pump sounds with each key crank and FP gauge reads upwards of 30-40 psi. Do i need to "bleed" the fuel sysyem if i had it open to air for a long time? I.e.-empty fuel rail, new injectors. or will the air blled out into the tank? -i have neew plugs correctly gapped. -secondary coil resistance was good according to book. -correctly timed.
Okay, please help me out!! ideas, info, tricks, anything to help me get my car running.

that MSD plug does some weird things. i tried putting it in once, and the car would not start no matter what i did. i spent a good hour trying to get it to fire up with that jumper. i hooked up the DIS-2 and it worked instantally.

check and make sure all sensors are plugged in. I had similar problem after my rebuild, and turned out the magnet was not installed on the end of the exhaust camshaft for the CPS to read its position. Also check crank angle sensor..etc....

it could be a couple things...one could be the Crank sensor, or cam sensor....other could be the timing belt could be off...if you pull the plugs and keep them connected to the wires, ground them on the intake, turn the engine over and see if they spark...if they all spark your timing should be along with your sensors....ive tried all this stuff once and found out you just need to crank it for like a minute holding the gas all the way in....i had a talon that wouldnt start, i tried everything and finally got fed up and just cranked the hell out of it holding the gas all the way in and she fired up doug
