69992, Ecu pin #14(very tech) Posted by InFiNiT3, Mar-05-04 09:28 AM
ok...lastnight i was working on a mod which consists of doing some ecu pin soldering... in this process i accidently bent pin #14 which is non exsistant on the harness itself. When i tried to bend it back slowly the pin broke off.... I didnt think anything of it cause like i said it wasnt on the harness.... when i went to start the the car the fuckin thing sounded like a V8....almost to the poiint where it sounds like a misfire.Ok ill check the spark.... all good...i am getting a Cel but my damn generic obd2 scanner wont pick it up...so i was thinking.... is pin14 supposed to be terminated at the harness?is there any way to get in there to solder a new pin in? I havent tested drivability yet.... i just know that if i dont give it some gass (about 1200rpm) she'll stall...
As far as i can tell all other pins are making good connections. Let me know if anyone has any ideas....
thx jake

Have you left the car on long enough for the ECU to readapt it's long term fuel trim (a good 15 minutes of idleing, and some driving)?
If you have then sounds like your gonna have to replace your ECU.

what other mod did you do? If the pin you broke did not have a harness wire attached to it then i doubt that is the problem.
Now pin 14....top or bottom harness connector (96-99)? or do you have a 95 (1 large connector)? Accordign to the schematics i am looking at for a:
95 N/T ECU: pin 14 receives a 12+ signal from the distribution wiring.
96-99 N/T ECU: no A or B 14 pin
96-98 2.4L non Turbo ECU: A14 goes to a fuel injector #2 to be exact. no B/C/D 14 pin
give me some more info and i will try to help.

the reason the OBDII genaric scanner will not detaect your code is because the code is vehicle specific, therefore you need to have a scanner like trhe snapon mt2500 that will read the vehicle not just a generic code set. go to a shop or the dealer. if you call a shop make sure they have the cartridge for your car. if you have a mitsu then they might not...the asian cartriges are 3000.00. if they have a genesis then it comes with the asian cartriges.

ok here i is... its pin 16(sorry miscounted) light green w/ red stripe... i think it may be an injector refrance but not sure..its a 97 (like i said obd2) i can replace it if i can get the pin connectors out of the ecu somehow.... anyone done this b4? i really dont have the cash for a new ecu...
where did u get those schematics?

Only the ECU side has pins. The harness side is just female receivers.
