AZ2GNT and myself just finished putting my new built block in last saturday.Does anyone have a idea of what could be causing my oil leak?We ground down the head bolt and put a new head gasket on and its dripping on the drivers side between the tranny and block.It looks like the oil is trailing down from farther up on the block.

damn dude that sucks.....are you turbo? it might be the sending unit. can i ask why you didnt get STUDS? you got a MLS headgasket too right? not the stock composite one?

take your time putting your engines together to ensure NO leaks, thats what is all about kids :nono

I was told to get new head bolts,I didnt know about the arp studs.The head gasket came in the gasket kit I got with my block.Its from Top Line.I plan on putting the turbo on after the engine is broken in but I would like to fix the oil leak first.

ouch man, well theres a few things that might have to go down here. one involving pulling the head, replacing those bolts with studs (to ensure no future leaks with your turbo) and a MLS headgasket (multi-layer steel) whats top line, anybody? never heard of it. where did you get it? bob kise? that dudes the man.

you torque the head bolts to spec? from the inside out? might need to pull the valve cover and make sure theyre torqued good (easier as opposed to pulling the whole head)

He isnt going to be running anything more than 10psi for awhile so head bolts should be fine.

The headgasket is a MLS.

The head bolts where torque'd to spec.

The leak is coming from above the sending unit so i imagine it is the head gasket. The head had a slight mill before we installed it. The rebuild was anything but rushed. Shawn when i get some free time bring it back over and we will take another look at it.

if shaved, then yes....but if he has a headgasket leak as it is? that 10psi is going to murder that headgasket so fast you wont even know what hit you. dont let it leak, rip it apart and do what you have to imo, at least pull the valve cover and tighten that bolt and see if that fixes it

edit: besides, with all of AZ 2gnt's help there will be no downtime :thumbsup

Is it coming from between the head and the block? The head? Did you fallow the trail? Cam positing sensor? valve cover? Left over oil from head pull?

haha since I have a bad head leak problem too, if you see it from underneath the car, it could be the rear main seal.. just my guess, unless you can actually see the oil leak from the head, but from what I took from reading, you didnt see any from the actual head, unless I missed something :) g'luck man, we all seem to be having bad luck..
