What is louder, and better in quailty. (by louder i mean deep loud, not coffee can loud)...

An obx exhaust and if so which one (type r, type h)
A pacesetter exhaust w/ a different muffler (and which muffler, I think a lot used obx b5)

And please dont tell me thermal or apexi or any of those, I know those are systems are the best, but i dont have that much money and i need to replace this fast, cops are bugging me about my hole in my exhaust right now. :)

Also on both of these will a test pipe or gutted cat make it raspy.

This also will be going on with an obx 4-1 header...if that makes a difference.

BTW does the black paint on the pacesetter come off, cause i know it does on their header.

not tryin to embard but what about some custom piping......will it be raspy with the obx if anyone has went this route or knows anything about it.......THANKS

I was thinking about that, but I still have to find out how much it will cost here.

I was quoted $150.00 from a local shop around here I just don't want it to be raspy

If you want loud, get a cheap muffler off ebay.
Go to a muffler shop and have them weld a 2.5" flange to some 2.5" pipe all the way back to the muffler.
It should be around $200 total

to avoid raspieness have a resonater welded in.

Anyone have any opinions on the obx or the pacesetter exhausts.

If you're limited to those two brands, go with obx.
I've seen cases where the pacesetter coating wears off and the pipes rust apart.

I was reading in another post and when you put the glasspack resonator, how much did the sound decrease.

#1) use a magnaflow muffler , buy it from RRE for 100$... much better quality than obx or pacesetter...link is in the review section

#2) pacesetter piping is stock diameter to my knowledge, so wont provide any more gains than just welding on a muffler to your stock piping

#3) obx & magnaflow catback are about the same price, but ide go with the magnaflow its probably a bit better quality. between the two it basically comes down to what style muffler you want. ive heard the obx is lowder too..

#4) wait for the af/x or fastfab header to come out. current headers are just re-tubed stock manifolds, and dont make any real power. the af/x or fast fab header should make some pretty sweet gains.
