Remy and i were over looking the stock Throttle Body. He pointed out that he heard that the manifold needed to be removed for the install. is this true ? i tryed searching but grew frustrated in my search. so i was hoping for a link if possible or a short write up to help us out in this regard. thanks again guys !

no, you can do it without removing the manifold. But, you might as well port/gasket match and polish it while you're at it! That's what I did atleast.

You can install without modifying anything but the inlet on the anifold will still be like 54mm andyou won't get the full 60mm of flow through to the engine.

You don't need to take out the manifold unless you also plan on port matching with the MP Tb. Even if you don't port match you'll still notice a very noticable diffence in the was your car responds, and since a 60mm manifold port match will probably require adding extra material around the bottle neck section. Also when you install the MP tb, be sure that the surface is completely sealed to prevent leaks which in turn cause high idling. Take your time with the removal of the torque screws in the sensors cause they're known to strip or break off at the head, put some liquid wrench and slowly, gently torque them loose.

Will the M.O. TB cause a cel versus the stock tb or 55mmafx tb?

The install was really simple. Take off the stock, and put the new one on. lol Like ^^^ said, the sensor bolts are really easy to brake. So disconnect all the sensor stuff and take off the tb. THEN try to take off the sensors.
I didn't add any material, but I did manage to open the mouth up to match up the MP tb.
The hardest thing for me was to adjust my driving habbit, because with the new tb it revs quicker/higher. Good luck! Hit me up on AIM if you need any help!

Becareful to avoid cutting thru the manifold. Another member, Tim i believe, had to have extra metal welded to the manifold.

yea i saw the pic. remys got the dremel so we should be inbusiness i also have an old school vacuum thats sure to suck out the rest of the mess left behind... how bad would it be if a tiny bit of shaving entered the block ? i will clean it as best i can but with the manifold on it might prove difficult ...

another question i had is that if i have a 60mm t/b and a 51 or 52mm inlet on the manifold how would gains be recieved ? i dont see how...

also does anyone know of the measurements of any aftermarket intake manifold for our car? such as venom lets say ? i called them but their one tech was out to lunch ... which frightened me lol

Is vacuuming safe? I'd be careful about getting metal shaving in there...

Btw, oracle, are you an auto. If so, make sure to post some of the results on the MP tb.

Yeah my friend and I installed mine in about under an hour. Just increased throttle response.

But i think you should get an intake and port it first, ot maybe that fastfabrications one in the announcment board.


this is on ebay now cheap so no down time while you get it ported maybe.

You plan on using a dremel? Better set a side a weekend and a box of bits. and maybe another dremel too. Better cool it down (or the motor will fail eventually) because those things heat up under load. The only practical way is to use a die grinder.

Vaccuuming is fine but the best way is to remove the upper plenum. There are about 5 bolts that you have to get to from the bottom that hold the lower to the upper plenum. You definitely do not want metal shavings left over in there when you start it up. After you port it out, run it under high pressure water & air then scrub it even afterwards. Get EVERYTHING out.

that manifold is ghetto... and its 200 beans cheaper than the venom ... remember u get what u pay for !!

great news !! im getting a stock manifold that has been ported and polished from good old WtngclanNY aka charlie (thanks man)... 60mm inlet and ported runners .... this should help in my quest

good find man, it makes a hell of a difference with a ported inlet than stock. it took me like 1 1/2 hrs to port match that thing to 62mm. man was it tiring! there's a lot of material to be taken out. i had my Jeep TB bored out as well to 62mm at a machine shop. man does it make a differnce. i started out with stock inlet and regular 60mm Jeep TB, but i decided to makes things smoother. for some reason the improved airflow makes the exhuast sounds smoother as well. well then again, you guys aren't turbo so it's hard to say what your mods will do. but for me it feels a lot better when i launch and top end is a lot better as well.

i hope it does make a difference .... from what i understood is that the 420a in our cars are bottled up on the intake side at least..hopefully i can get to a dyno and get a baseline before hand and afterward as instructed by the board gurus thura and michael hopefully there will be no intial losses ....fingers are crossed

you can stuff a small towel or undershirt into the manifold and it should keep the shavings out as well.
