Hey, I wanted to know what everyone has thought about these, Venom Performance Control Modules. They're suppose to improove your horsepower and everything. Heres a link:

It it worth the buy?

From what I understand they don't do shit for our cars. The idea is to trick the ECU into seeing readings from the sensors that they're really not putting out. Problem is our ecu's are pretty flexible and they compensate for things like that.

You'll probably see more gains out of a "turvo" :rolleyes

LOL...

as far as "performance modules" go. Check into AFX ECU's.

Yeah, but that's only if you have a 97 Manual tranny. Any other year is SOL on that dea.

Other than that there is no "chip" or any flip of a switch that's gonna give you power. Concentrate on bolt-ons or saving for turbo.

My girlfriend's brother has a Venom 300 on his Del Sol and it did provide a very noticeable performance gain compared to when he was stock. I think the point behind them is to widen the power band which it did imo. Like aaron said though, I don't think they do jack for our cars.

Ok, im not sure if my trans is a 97 or whatever... my eclipse is a 95, but is standard trans. I hear the underdrive pulleys are a great buy, i just read about the clutch resistor mod on this site: does it make alot of difference with smooth shifting, ect?

Then it won't work.

yea that sounds pretty apparent so far innit?
like mentioned above, its best to focus on the bolt ons and eventually turbo. But now at least $300 wont be spent on a lost cause. looks like only one person has had success with these, and it wasnt even on an eclipse, lol - thanks again tho

Go to your local radio shack and buy a 10k ohm resister, unplug you intake air temp sensor(on the back of the intake), plug the resistor in the harness, and start the car. It will give you a small boost in power for awile until your computer compensates for it. Personally I wouldn't do it again, but it's a quick option.

P.S. this is the 20 hp ebay chip mod

i've heard of that before, and it hasnt been good things. many say it works, but in the end it ruins the life of your engine and computer. Think, someone on ebay is making money off of that
