dont drive fucked up stupid...

you probably need a new tensioner , or your just not aligning your belts right... try using a gatorback belt also

Do you have an aluminum UDP? If you don't get it on all the way then you'll just keep throwing belts. Use an air impact wrench to get it on all the way.

I have had the same damn problem for a year...I replaced the tensioner, no good...made sure everything was perfect still broke 10 seconds later at high revs...It was one of the problems that will not go away. It made me so mad so for a month and a half I just got used to no power steering. BUT we did find the problem. The Pulley shaft, that goes into the pump, was not tight so it went in and out about a half an inch with pressure, just wobbled in and out, and there was a little play in the shaft area. So I bought a remanufactured one for 50 bux, and its brand new….boom fixed the problem

remove the tensioner get a smaller belt and use the p/s bracket to tension the bracket.

You'd be surprised how much brains you see at the junk yard as a result of drivers under the influence.

I had that same problem before. Just tight the bolt on the balancer with a impact gun, if the balancer is not all the way in, the belt will come off under heavy acceleration. I did replace my belt twice and after tighting the bolt with an impact gun instead of a 1/2" racket wrench an a lot of arm power, it stop shooting the belt off.

I cannot stress enough to not use an impact gun when assembling anything! You run the risk of over-torquing, shearing bolt heads off or doing serious damage in any number of ways! Yes it is easier but it isn't the best way to do it! It does sound like your pullies aren't in line or you have some serious shaft end play that is causing the belt to jump. Take a look at that as was said before in addition to the old belts sides. If the are nice and shiny then they have been wearing too fast as well as slipping. Also look at the condition of all the pullies. Good luck and let us know what the problem was

Who is saying use an impact gun on the head bolts? I said use it to drive the balancer in place. That bolt can handle the stress. Just drive the balancer in place with the gun then loose the bolt and torque to specs. The balancer goes in pretty tight and to use a regular racket wrench is a very slow process. The first time I took one out, I had a hard time. So I'm just making thing easier for someone having the same problem that I had. Let us know when you fix the problem.

I wasn't saying "head" bolts. I said "Bolt" heads. I work in a shop and have repaired numerous cars with sheared bolts from overtorquing. A lot of techs will tell you the same thing. Yes it can make it easier but it isn't advisable. I wasn't meaning to sound like I was jumping but when you see that kind of preventable damage on a regular basis...Please accept my offer of truce? :cheers

Yes, I understand what you are writting. I had that same problem with my belt, I had it installed by hand and it wasn't so easy. When I used the impact gun, the balancer went in place faster and better.
I know there are a lot of so called mechanic working around that instead of fixing things they damage things and I understand you concern. I just trying to help him with my experience in the same problem he has. Tools are made to ease the installation, just use it in a correct way. But, thanks for the concern! I'm sure he will be carefull.

Install your aftermarket UDP with an IMPACT wrench, until it don't turn anymore.

All shredded belts I've seen are a result of not putting on your UDP all the way/straight.
