68509, Solution for CEL 43 after Upgrading Coil Pack Posted by WickedESi, Feb-15-04 07:17 PM
Some people are getting Cel 31's after changing their stock coil packs to an upgraded MSD or Screamin' Deamon version.
Clearing the codes did not fix it (may just apply to '95 cars).
Pull the 30A Engine (ECU) fuse in the engine bay and leave it unplugged for at least 30 seconds. Plug it back and and viola, no CEL 31 ever again.

how long ago did you try this? the cel 31 usually takes 2-3 days to come back on.

I got the MSD replacement coil pack and never had a problem....
maybe my car is just like "eh... better than the half working one I used to have" and is happy... (minus all of it's other problems)

Joel, you are the man. If the CEL doesn't return, you are a true 2gnt hero IMO. Also, you need to come chill at my game in ARAB on Saturday. Arab = very close to Madison. One weekend you also need to help me install the following parts:
Screamin Demon Coil Ported/Polished intake mani (TB port opened to 60mm) Motor Mount Inserts A/F, Oil Pressure, and Voltmeter gauges and your stock cat.... =)
I'll catch you on AIM.

It's been about a week. I waited a good while before I posted this to be sure.

actually cel 31 is evap solenoid circuit/evap purge flow monitor failure. just maybe a dumb question cause im drunk but why would you get this cell after replacing your coil? wouldnt you more than likley get cel 43? ig coil 1/2 primary circuit or multiple cylider misfire? just a dumb question from a drunk.

This topic is concerning CEL 43 not 31, I'll have to get a mod to change the title.
