68460, Tublar Maini on a n/a

So I got a really good offer. The guy who does all the work on my car is starting his own turbo business. He offered to sponsor me; I would be his first (prototype) car. The good thing is he worked for another turbo shop before he is starting this one. He specializes is turboing NON turbo eclipses. I have seen 3 eclipses he has done he does awesome work. Anyways he is going to do everything for 2200$. T3/T4 hybrid turbo, Greddy Fontmount IC, Gages, Blow off, Custom piping, all set up for 2200$.

And now for my questions

He said he was going to do a sick tubular manifold for me. Why don’t any other non turbo eclipses have tubular manifolds? He said room will be somewhat of an issue but if we replace the fans with thinline fans we will be fine. Why doesn’t anyone do tubular on there N/A eclipse?

He also was talking about boost. I had my bottom fully rebuilt about one month ago, we both decided that replacing the internals to forged wouldn’t be logical AS OF NOW, because I just had everything replaced a month ago. We are planning to do forged in June/July but for now it will remain stock. He said that I would be fine boosting 7 pounds on my daily driving, and 9-10 when I want to race.
Sounds good to me, was wondering what any of you guys think. ill be sure to have Pics it goes in in a couple weeks, and its gona take about a week and a half to do everything

it shouldnt take a week and a half just to install a turbo kit.

Fastfabrications makes tubular manifolds

I wouldnt run over 8psi on stock internals due to our oil lands on our pistons. I know of people who have ran 10psi on stockers, but they were considered lucky. that is just my advice though, its yo world.

<building a tubular myself...that is once i got the 2.4 in to get it just right...think hood clearance might be an issue of the shape i wana make it

yeah fast fabrications does make a nice directional manifold and he sells it for 400. his manifold has been proven to put down about 25whp over the log design manifolds
www.fastfabrications.com just ask for jason

stage 4 clutch, aluminum flywheel, solid motor mounts, Phantom grip, phantom boost, egt, a/f, oil psi, apexi TT, Jeep TB, Star stage 2 with custom 3 inch downpipe out passenger side bumper, custom ground kit, falcon azenis, 2 inch drop, eibach camber kit, crank scrapper,AEM cam gear, short shifter, AFX UDP and some other stuff

because most peoples going custom wants non-expensive setup
space is limited, hood clearance is also an issue

here's one of the nicest tubular 4-2-1 equal length setup that was ever made for our cars

It's not one of mine :)

Nice Alain

Thats kinda what i wana make...down and up..

BTW would you be so kind to tell me where you get your exhaust manifold flanges made?? or do you make em? need one =)

they are made on a CNC by a machine shop, my own design, drawn on autocad and they are not for sale !

yes that manifold "looks" nice , but it places the turbo too far from the exhaust port, the idea is to build a manifold with the best transition from the head flange to the turbo flange with the shortest runners possible, there is alot more to it than just that, but that is the biggy, I have recently came up with a completely new manifold for the 2gnt, I tried playing with different pressure areas in the manifold and came up with a manifold that drives a turbo crazy, it will spool your turbo 1000 rpm sooner than any manifold Ive tried, thanx Jason 336-627-0222

Jasons manifold is some very nice quality work. I have one w/my star kit and i'd be the first to go to bat for him on his quality. The welds were awsome, the manifold looks great and has performed nicely. I don't have any numbers to back it up but I can tell you I for sure found my t3/t4 to spool a few hundred rpms faster. My only quam w/ the manifold is the location of the wastegate flange. Its on the #1 runner, closest to the passenger side and the coolant water neck. I found that when i put the Deltagate on it actually hit my waterneck and wouldn't work. I had a machineshop cut it off and relocate it on the #4 runner. I never brought this to jason's attention so i dont know if he had a chance to fix the problem or not. You can count on a few things w/ his manifold. You will need a slim line fan on the a/c side b/c the manifold puts your turbo closer to the radiator, it will not work w/ the stocker. You will also need to either ditch the a/c condensor or get a very tight radius u bend. I ended up w/ a piece from Jegs that worked for the dp, it was just tight enough to get past the a/c but you will need to heat wrap it b/c it will sit pretty close to your new slim line fan. You will also need to fabricate a bracket to support your turbo. The manifold angles down and will need the extra support. This isn't really hard, just kinda a pain. For the price i'd say its probably the best option right now. I'd be interested to see some dyno tested results, i'm sure they'd impress this tough bunch

Ive actually came out with a completely new manifold for the eclipse, since Chad got his. Fitment is not as big of a deal as it was and the style of the manifold is completely different, Ill post pics very shortly thanx Jason

thats my luck. i'd be interested to see the new pics. damned cast star manifold had to break on me when it did.
