68179, Head Gaskets Kit problems...

Sup guys.
I purchased a Apex Gasket Kit for the head on Ebay. and I recieved 2 days ago, and now I open it up and I really not sure which is for which and what are some of the uses for some of the gaskets...
Also I don't konw if some of the gaskets are good for my turbo charged Eclipse.

Below are some close up pictures:

This is the Headgasket, on Ebay it said to be MLS and it does look like MLS also. So it should be perfect for my car correct?

This bag contians ALOT of different rings of gaskets... the biggest 4 I know (think) is the valve cover spark plug gaskets...but all others I have no clue. Can some of you Pro give me some clue on which one is for which?

Valve stem seals... What is that for? it has total of 16 in it, so I know it's for the valves, are they for the valve seals that is where it seals off the combustion/compression area???

OK, that two big ring looks familiar, but I do'nt konw what is it for, (cams? but which side or end?) what is the other diamiad shaped gasket for? also what the gaskets in the bag for?

From this pic, I definitely need a new exhaust gasket from Mitsubishi, but what light blue gasket for? I can't tell. yellow is for intake, and dark blue is for valve cover, but how bout light blue??

Great, as some of you know, my MAIN gasket I have to replace is the cams position sensor seal, exhaust manifold gasket, intake gasket, and headgasket. but which one is the cams position sensor seal??

Thank you all.
Please give me any input and opinions you guys have!
Greatly appreciated!

Ok that is the same kit i used on my car when i found out my head gasket was leaking. You have everything you will need.

The head gasket works fine, mine is on my turbo charged 420a also.

The big with many gaskets:
4-spark plug hole gaskets
1-grey seal for the cam sensor
thick rounds are for the valve cover bolt holes, you will see when you take it apart.

Bag with valve seal:
you will not use this unless you remove the valve springs to install them. if you do not do that then save them, they are costly 80.00 i think

The large gaskets are the intake-yellow
exhaust-black, i would recommend the mitsu metal gasket instead
dark blue is the intake....mine leaked after a month had to buy mitsu
light blue i think is used on the neon engines. it doesnt fit ours

Triangular gaskets in the remaining bag are for the EGR assy and such, i never removed mine.

When you do the head gasket leave the intake attached to the head, pull your turbo ect, pull the timing and covers, you can leave the inner cover on you will just have to gently pull it away from the head to slide the head by, the intake will have two bolts on the bottom that are used as braces, remove them. pull the cams and head bolts and lift tilt the head towards the driver side like a book being opened backwards. it helps if you remove the battery. if you do it this way you will not have to disturb the egr pipe ect. be very carefull of your TB sensors.

The 4 corner head bolts.....grind 1 thread off the bolt to make the a tiny bit shorter. this will ensure the bolt tightens on the head and does not bottom out like the wonderful design flaw.

If you like send me a personal mail and i will give you my phone number to help you out on the phone if you run into issues.

I used a very similar kit, I dont know about brand, but I got it from Napa. ^^HE^^ pretty much told ya everything ya need to know, I also recommend the metal exhaust gasket from satan and I used some anaerobic sealant from napa as well. I dont remember the name of it, but its in a blue tube and its red stuff, (maybe loctite 1218) or somethin like that. I used it on EVERY gasket I put on there, which isnt required, but it sure as hell worked for me, I had 0 leaks, including the usual leaks in the beginning when the gaskets are still getting sealed using the heat of the engine. Good luck

Those all look like stock gaskets exept for the last pic.

The valve stem seals are in your head, and yes they seal between the intake/exhaust area and the lubricated rocker area. If your car lets out a little (or big) puff of smoke after idleing for a while your valve stem seals are bad.

Those two big ones are cam seals. The spring/open side of the seal goes torward the inside of the head. Make sure you use clean grease on the inside of the seal before installing it. Use a large socket to push the seal in evenly all at once. The diamond shaped one is the EGR valve gasket. You may or may not need that.

I dunno what that light blue gasket is. The cam pos sensor gasket looks like a little green rubber band. Be sure to use the red anerobic sealant on it also as specified in the overhaul manual.

The light blue gasket is for a Neon intake manifold. That gasket set is for a Neon. Most of them are interchangeable, however. The intake manifold gasket to the head will fit, just trim off the section for the water outlet. You'll need a middle intake manifold gasket if you take it apart.

Its cheaper if you go to a dodge/chrysler dealer and tell them you have a talon. Mine was like $50. I never go to satan anymore for parts.
