68109, How to clean engine Head for new Head Gasket...

The topic ^^^ said it all.
I took off my engine head, and now I need to put it back with the NEW Head Gasket.

But I tried so hard cleaning the head to block surface area but I cannot clean it.

I used carb cleaner and I got the basic carbon junk off the surface and kinda cleaned the valves area with it.
Then I asked Autozone, and they said use Engine Degreaser and let it soak on the surface of the head to remose the rest of the Headgasket stain or whatever those black things STUCK on the head (can't even remove them by carb cleaner)

Ok, so I let it soak for about 20 mins and I try to wipe them clean... NO USE...maybe got like 1% of the shit off... or NONE.

What do I use or do to clean it? or should I just leave them and just put in the new Head Gasket?

Thanks guys!
Greatly appreciated in advance!
Gil

Polish it w/ 400 grit sand paper using strokes in one direction. Then put some alchohol (or equivalent) and wipe the surface clean.

what i did was scrape the old gasket crap with a razor blade...then i sanded it down until it was smooth...dont go over board, just get the stuff thats obvious....after you wipe it clean for the final time, try not to touch it or the headgasket...

I used a ScotchBrite pad, and some brake cleaner. It works very well, and you won't run the risk of scratching the head/block surface. Be VERY careful on the cylinder head!

go to your local dodge dealer, and request "Mopar combustion chamber cleaner" theyll know what youre talking about. spray it on a rag and go to town on it. i did the same technique and got off all of the crap in less than 5min. this product is made for cleaning engine internals(ie: carbon/sludge) so trust me, it works. the cleaner is around 8bux

Mopar combustion chamber ceaner is the shit, Scoth bright works great on the block too. If you're replacing the headgasket because it blew. Let the machine shop clean the head, because you should be taking it there anyway to make sure the surface is flat and doesn't need to be milled.
