ok, i posted about 2 weeks ago as to a problem i was having...my car was running terribly...i was gettin CEL-misfire in cyl. 4 (blinking CEL, which means severe misfire i guess?) ....so i went ahead and changed that spark plugs, wires, and now the coil pack, also the air filter...still nothing...when i drive it i have a loss of power, and it sounds like a f**ked up Harley davidson...i dont know what else to do here...i dont know if i sould even be driving on this...some people said it could have been injectors.,..PLEASE i NEED help here! all imput is greatly app! thanks! Look for a clogged fuel injector.

yeah, start checking ur fuel now....id start off by replacing your fuel filter and trying some injector cleaner

I'd try a bottle of injector cleaner. Have you done a compression test?

I don't think so.

Get a mechanic's stethoscope and place the tip of it on Injector #4's body (while the car is running). If you hear it ticking, then at least you know that injector's operational. It may not though. I've had an injector quit on me before. It was quite an ordeal to troubleshoot.

Yes, I had a misfire code. Plus, it sputtered badly above 2500 rpm's every time I revved it. It sounded like popping.

I wanted to add to the above post, to get out your multimeter and test the resistance on your coil posts and your spark plug wires. A Chilton's or a Factory Service Manual is invaluable in getting to the bottom of such problems. You have to take one thing at a time. It's not likely to be the first thing you think of, or the last thing. Just go one part at a time.

It does sound fuel related, but another thing you can fall back on, or add to the list is a clogged catalytic converter, the added backpressure can cause misfires. Generally not just a single cylinder though, I'd expect more of a multiple sylinder misfire code.

Did you check? I mean, why bother having other people troubleshoot by going to the next thing such as injector harness and so forth, if you just want to hear ideas that sound appealing or plausible to you.

What we're doing here was all stated initially in the Factory Service Manual.

Have you installed any aftermarket ignition systems? Just wondering because my msd dis-2 caused the same type of problem. Came to find out that the ground wire from the harness wasn't grounded well enough. If not sorry about the ranting and raving.

I think they all may be wrong on this. Get a leak down test done. Unfortunately, to me, it sounds like a burnt valve. Not just a compression test, because a leak down test checks for mini leaks, that a compression test may not finds. Good luck.

I just bought a compression tester for like $30 and did it myself. Here is how you do it. Take the valve cover off, and the spark plugs out, and put the hose in one of the spark plug holes. In your case, your 4th. Then you hook it up to a pressure hose, I used a tire inflater tank. I only had it at 20 psi, so it wouldn't put a whole lot of pressure there( you want it completely quiet so you can hear a leak). I guess these other guys would be able to tell you better the exact pressure you should use. Anyways, make sure that both valves are closed. I just kept turning it over til the two lobes of the cam were at the opposite side to the valves. But when they were both closed, I could hear a little leak. Then I did take it in to make sure that i was correct. Yup. I now am happy I have a compression tester too. Mine has the hookup to a air hose, or to the gauge to test compression.

If you are handy, you would have to just take off the head, and take it to a machine shop to put new valves in. I paid like $100 for it, and then you might as well change the timing belt. I figure if you do most of the taking a part, you can find someone from this forum, to help you put it back together. Around $300 at most I would think. Bye the way, if you do have to do the valves, you might as well have it ported. then look at the cylinders to see if they are grooved at all. Good luck

car went into the shop today...i'm getting to the bottom of this..(well not me) i'll do the fixin...he can do the findin...troubleshooting will be costing me way too much....

sup guys...we got down to the problem.....the mechanic called just yesterday and said it was either a blown head or bad injectors...i was shitting my pant...but i got good news today when i found out it was a clogged injector....as many of u guys had thought it was...thanks alot guys you were a huge help, and i really app. it!! thanks guys, BRIAN
