Noticed tonight that when I wind her up to about 6 grand, I get smoke out the tail pipe. A cloud big enough for Sarah to drive through. I doubt it's fuel since I have a completely stick fuel system at this point, but any ideas? The only other time she smokes is when she's idled for more than say 5 minutes without moving and then she'll smoke for about a block or so and stop.

New head is being ordered within 2 weeks, so I'm asking mroe out of curiosity. Thanks!

possibly fuel brian, runnin rich would do it. whats the smoke look like? just black? white? blue?

Valve stem seals most definately. stock stem seals suck.

i had the same problem with mine. It would smoke blue, but only when sitting at idle for more than about 5-10 minutes. Once I started driving around again, it would clear up within a few miles. Was told by a shop that it was valve stem seals. Problem went away after the rebuild tho, so I cant be totally sure thats what it was, since I had so many other things redone also.

i had that problem a while back. yes it can be the stem seals but mine turned out the be a jammed oil ring. cross your fingers that its not. good luck.

I'll be sending out a spare head for full build up at ERT in a couple weeks and when it comes back in, I'm tossing the regular piston rings I had for some Total Seals.

We look forward to doing business with you brian, were you getting the raceport done? What kinda hardware are we putting on it? Stainless valves, springs etc?

We've got Brian covered.

You are just venting your valve cover to a catch can or breather filter, right Brian? With total seal you don'e want the PCV system in the loop. No hose from valve cover to intake, or PCV to manifold. You want them both vented or you can pull oil through out of the head into the intake and burn that.

I'm sure Michael can give you the update on my upcoming project.

As for the Total Seals and the PCV, I just read about that aspect of the reason they tend to burn oil. I won't be installing the Total Seals until I have a new head to install. At that point I'll have all the breathers and hoses I need to do it up right.

And, like I keep joking with Michael, I better have an ERT decal for the car at the Shootout, considering the majority of my power should come from you guys. }(
