Sup everyone. At 5pm yesterday that car started up the first time.

We checked and no leaks. we let it warm up, lit up a cigar :thumbsup.

We went to take it out for the breakin run and it started to over heat. Well, we checked the oil and it was out, there was a ton of fluid that had spurted out from the area of the oil pressure gauge (sender). So I was liike f*ck!! Who are we going to call and pick us up. Well what would you know... A cop shows up. I get all excited and go ask for some help.

Well, he searched me, my two friends and the car. Gave me a ticket for expired reg. (the car hasnt been running for 3 months! it was not expired when it was running. Dip shit.

So we get the oil and notice that my friend forgot to clamp down the heater hose that goes to the block, all the fluid was COOLANT! AAAAH!

So we go back and fix it all. Runs fine, WAY DEEP, and a little lopy.

Well the lopy got to me so, ran a compression check and.....

it has a lot of miles on it but i know for a fact that it runs, it ran on my old motor. its all assembled and whatnot and will hold you over until you can replace your valves. i'll just send it out with your intercooler pipe.

congrats on the motor!!! she liives, just has a slight breathing problem ;)

you could always get some OEM valves from bob kise or something, or even some 1mm oversize valves

you didnt notice a burnt valve when you installed the head? they're usually pretty rough on the valve face if they've gone through the ringer

edit: i have some brand new valve guides too, they're yours.

they were all comparable. I should have taken a closer look, but you know how it is when your trying to get everything done. This was the first time also, I should have had it checked out...

How much do you want for the head?

Anyone else have any input?? Would it be ok to drive till I get the new head on??

I would not rule out a cracked ring land on that piston either. YOur best bet is to do a leakdown test in that cylinder to find out. Either way you will have pull the head :o

20 over Je8:8 and eagle rods, arp head bolts.. the worx. You think that just by overheating (not even into the red, about 3/4's) I could break a ring land?

Its proportional to the compression numbers from the previous time. If you should think I should run a leak down I will, i trust your judgment just thought I would double check.

doah my bad, didn't realize you had internals done :) I'd say then its most likely the valves. Did you have any headwork done at all? Or did you just slap the old head back on? Either way, pull the head, install all new valves, valve guide seals, have a valve seat grind done, deck the head surface to be sure its nice and flat, and use the MLS headgasket, and you should be good to go. Any reputable machine shop should be able to do this for you. Expect to pay around 200 bucks, give or take..
