67729, Co-Driver code 31... Posted by OldGuy, Feb-02-04 08:00 PM
There has been a lot posted about the codriver 31. I had 2 of them and think that I may have a fix for some of you. Seems that my codes were Evap leak small and evap leak large. I took out a time worn section of vacuum hose from the valve cover to the pcv (not sure why it was in there in the first place!). Reset the codes with a scanner (Snap-On MT2500 w/ Mitsu-1 and generic OBDII adapter w/K-7 key: Asian import and Asian troubleshooter carts installed). After resetting numerous times in the past by disconnecting the neg. battery cable and always having it come back within 2 miles, It has not come on for about 40. I will keep watching and let you know the progress. Not saying changing that hose will work for all but a good thorough check of vacuum connections can't hurt. Good Luck.

Whjy the asian import plugin? You know these cars have a Chrysler engine and PCM, right?

Yes I do know this but that is what the book and the code reader called for...made no sense to me either.

I think that I may have been elated to early! Hate it when that happens! CEL came on again last night. Back to the drawing board. At least it is only the code for small evap leak at this time. I will keep on looking till I figure it out and let you know... The PCV routing on my Talon runs from the intake to the valve cover just to the pass siode of the coil pack.

This is one people have been dealing with for many, many years. usually, it's 97 year models with an aftermarket turbo kit that get it the worst. I'm sure those people appreciate the help and ideas.
