67680, Exhaust leak, but where? Posted by EclipseRST, Feb-02-04 03:55 AM
Hey guys, if I stick my face near the turbo while the car is on I can smell exhaust. The only problem is that I don't know if it's coming from the manifold or the downpipe. I'm hoping it's the downpipe and it most likely is since I only have it clamped, not welded. But if it's my manifold I don't want it hurting my performance. Is there any way to determine which one it is without welding the downpipe or changing my mani gasket?

Get some really potent intake cleaner shit. The kind that will smoke like crazy when its burnt and cleaning.
I dunno if its bad for the exhaust blades or not, but if you got a leak i imagine that smoke would seep out of somewhere.

Alrighty, instead of doing the whole intake cleaner idea, I just left it outside in the cold for a while. I started it and looked underneath and it looks like it's coming from where HRC's downpipe connects to my stocker (big surprise there:rolleyes).
Now for my next question, does this require immediate or any attention? I don't really mind if it's not taking away from performance. But could this be slowly killing me or anything with the exhaust gases so close to the engine bay and my vents?
