67608, Actual Supercharger for a 420a!

Well, not exactly the same but it sure does look promising. Can actually boost up to 20psi for 15secs. Anyone ever used this?

You see guys, this is the one I was talking about. Exactly!!! 15,000 watts. Do you guys know anything about watts. 80 amps will melt a 12 gauge wire in about 2 seconds. I = V/r 100 W / 6 V = 16.66 amps. 15,000 watts is like 1250 amps. Second, check out the price. $3,000. Lastly, you have to push a button? I love seeing things like this. Those look like heater fan motors. Have you ever felt a motor bog after the fan turns on. Just think of 3 of them at the same time. Enough said.

This don't work like those other cheap pc fans. This actually builds up to 20psi. It's 1999.00 not 3000.00 I'm not saying it is better than anything just pretty unique if you ask me.

Look at the chart though. You do realize that a 420a takes more cfm to actually show a boost. You have to have more cfm to get pressure build up. Also, where do you get the 24volts from to run it. Run an extra battery? Can anyone else look at these dyno graphs and tell me what is weird. How can you have the same 100ish horses from 3000 rpm to 6400 rpm. Actually its showing more horses on some of the graphs at low RPM? That is not a normal dyno graph??? Anyways, I was seeing the price in the magazine. Maybe it is cheaper off the internet.

Drive System · 6HP x3 Electric Motors -----6HP? 18 hp can run a gocart. come on!!!
Maximum CFM · 405 @ 5.5PSI ----Where do they get 20psi then?

Electric superchargers don't work.
Most of the CFM measurements are done in free-air testing.
Once a load is placed in the stream, it drops significantly.
The web site also states that a separate charging system is needed.
Not worth the trouble or money to ultimately decrease power by placing something in the intake path.

Do a search in the "advanced search" for "Knight Supercharger" and you will see this e-supercharger has been debated before.

i'd still like to hear an actual testimonial

Hey don't get me confused. There's no way in hell I would bolt that thing on in place of my turbo'd 4g63. Just looked pretty neat. Thought I would share.

So in essence, your're getting the same thing a nitrous system could deliver. Short boosts of extra power with the push of a button. (If this proclaimed system even worked)
So tell me which is more cost effective???????

why spend that much when you can get a tried and true turbo
for the same price?

doesnt work. i tried this same idea on my friends 3000GT with
a massive airplane electric fan and it bogged the car down so
bad it died. but, he know has a TK supercharger kit we'll be
starting on this project tonite around 10. 5psi full boost
around 1800rpms. Could be fun.

you could always run a hose to the inside of your car from the
engine bay, one end hooked up to the intake, and the other end
to fart in.

yeah WAY off topic! but since I've seen farts light on fire
(a few times by yours truly) you might get a teeny-tiny boost,
that WON'T kill your electrical system.

Those dyno charts look bootleg as hell. Probably photoshoped.

i just hope ths kind of thread ends already! i'm tired of hearing retarded ass ideas and other alternatives to boost our cars. it just won't happen. i don't think upto this point that anyone cares anymore. the majority who are here took the turbocharger route 'cause it's the only way it works... and i don't think anyone is EVER going to make a supercharger system to actually go anywhere with, especially an electronic one. there's no point to attempt this anymore. why would anyone spend thousands of dollars and go through a route that really doesn't give you many optins to really make high HP gains? this idea is just plain RICE in my opinion. who in the world is making 9sec or less passes on a electronic type blower? gimme a break!
