67546, What to set cam gears at? Quickly Posted by SilverRS, Jan-27-04 04:01 AM
I need fast help. I am putting cam gears on my car tomorrow and I need to know what is the best to set them at. I know it is only done on the dyno, but I have heard that on our cars you get the best performance with the exhaust set at 0 and the intake set anywhere from +4 to +7 anybody got some quick numbers I should use. I don't have enough money to dyno tune it right now.
Thanks

for one, this is not advanced at all. and yes, ex at 0 and intake at +4 is a place to start.

sorry, just thought that cam gears are more advance than basic perfomance parts. Don't be so harsh.

With just an intake, cat-back exhaust, and AEM adjustable cam gears, I had my car dyno-tuned when the cam gears were installed. The most I could get was 7 whp, and that was with: intake advanced 2 degrees, exh. retarded 2 degrees. I'm sure there probably other combinations, but this was what the shop did for me at that time.
