67435, Satan & resetting IAC Posted by My9t5Talon, Jan-27-04 05:24 PM
Hey guys...I'm pretty much getting the runaround about being able to reset the IAC motor on the TB...and was just wondering if anyone could post the page out of the dealer service manual (or a link to it) that says the IAC is resetable???
They wanted me to pay $90 for a damn diagnostic check, when I already told them what the problem is!!! On top of whatever it'll be to fix the IAC, they probably would've told me to buy a new one from them! All they want is our $$$!!!

I really doubt you can reset it. Just take it off and clean it real good with some carb cleaner. That usually helps. Also just try unplugging it and crank your car if it acts the same maybe it is the problem. Whats the problem anyway?

My symptoms are...high idle (around 1200 rpms...I can live with that)...and after driving around for about 30min. the CEL comes on, and spits out a 25 for the code with the Key Dance
I have to get it smogged in a few weeks, and they won't do it if the CEL is on...
And DANG!!!...the computer at work must've been screwed up when I posted earlier!!! That is some weird $h!+!!!

get a new gasket for the tb...then take the tb off, take the iac out and set the tip of the sensor 1 inch away from the base. that will give you an idle somewhere btwn 800-900. then put the tb back on with the new gasket in place.

yep just move it on your own till the idle is correct

What the??? That's how you set the idle?

No - but it'll work if the idle motor is completely screwed up.
Lemme rephrase that. If the idle motor doesn't respond to the computer(frozen stuck) then adjusting the plunger height will modify the engine idle. It wont get rid of the code though. The computer will throw that code when the idle motor doesn't respond.
Before you go screwing in or out the plunger - try jacking the plunger in and out a bit to see if you can free it up. It may just be gunked up and stuck.

hell i just had mine replaced. like 140 with labor, considering the motor is 100. but hey, no more problems, only my problem was when driving, when i take my foot off gas and the car is not in gear the engine owuld either die or would go down to like 200 rpms, and then slowly work back up. it sucked. also car owuld barely start sometimes. new motor, works great and also the tb was cleaned out too by the guy who did it so yippee.
