It blinks when it misfires. Either that, or it's going to blow up. Too bad we don't have an LCD display to help figure that out... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... <BOOM!>

I think blinker is a serious misfire. Like water covering the spark plug misfire. Don't ask me why I know that one there. I bet your car sounded like some sort of fucked up Harley Davidson driving like that...

I would suggest you look into testing your coil pack per the Chilton's manual man. I don't have mine here, but someone will know what kind of resistance you should get from which terminals. I doubt it's the injectors, considering I have over 150k on my originals, but you never know unless you check 'em. Don't ask me how to do that one either. :P For either, I would suggest checking into ERT. They have an ad on the forum now, and they carry both the coil (MSD $45) and the injectors (Accel ~$30/each?).

First thing I would do is to pull the number 4 plug wire and swap it with the number 1 wire. Drive again. Still misfire? Still misfiring in cylinder 4? Or cylinder 1? Or both? :O If the misfire moves with the wire, you have a bad wire. If not, try swapping the spark plug itself and putting the wires back. Theoretically, you could do this with the fuel injectors too, but I would advise leaving them put unless you really know what you're doing.

Why was this post so damn long and involved? Dunno, maybe because I'm Brian too. :P

Good luck sir.

Did you try switching the wires? You can't get much easier than that one man.

Its the coil pack. be sure and get the right MSD coil pack. 95-96 is different than the 97+.

Yeah. Check the pins on your coil. You'll want to specify the flat or regular pin style to make sure when you order it. :P

Heh, mine blinked when I lost compression on cyl 1. Blew up the piston.

My car ran like that once. I had a CEL too, but it wasnt blinking. Then I noticed the coil pack was cracked in half!!!! I still dont know how for sure.

actually it may be something off the wall like i had. i had my timing belt and headgasket replaced and when i got it back i got about 15 miles away from the place and it started the blinky CEL. took it to autozone...misfire in cyl 4, just like you. took it back to the place, they replaced a lifter and a valve for free and no more cell or shit idle. also my car idled really shitty but ran fine when i was driving, is that how yours is?
