Hi Guys,

My car is running like crap lately. Maybe it's the cold weather and all, but anyway, here are my symptoms:

- Car surges forward without me stepping on the gas, as if I did press on the gas.
- Related to above; car almost has trouble coming to a complete stop since the car feels like it wants to keep going...and has a hard time getting below 2,000RPMs, and will only drop to 1100rpms at a complete stop.
- Engine is really loud...maybe because its hovering around 2,000rpms?
- Horrible gas mileage, like 150-180 miles on a tank.

I'm getting 3 CEL CODES: 17 17 43

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? It's driving me crazy.

Well first find out what the codes mean. There here on the site somewhere–just search.

On the surging and what not, I recently had to install my throttlebody without a gasket, and hence I have an airleak (getting part for it soon). My car is behaving exactly like your car. My rpms at idle are around 1100, LOUD engine, I have to press the brake with much effort or else the car will go forward. Anyway, once you know what the code is go from there. The solution for my problem is just getting a 2.65 gasket that's not arriving till wednesday.

43 is a misfire code im pretty sure. check/replace plugs, then wires, then coilpack untill you solve your problem.

id go to autozone and run the free CEL test.
